If his art has an ideological and personal agenda, shouldn't he have a right to display it at an art exhibit?

No. On what basis?

Doesn't most art have an ideological and personal agenda?

I see no reason to believe this is necessarily true.

You make it sound as if the purpose of this art exhibit is to display art that promotes the missions and purposes of the University. I am so glad I attended a regular University with art exhibits that displayed art promiting the artists ideological and personal agendas.

And as this seems to be what goes on, to a great extent, at most universities today (ideological agendas), more power to you. And no, art need not in any way always express the mission and purpose of the Church, but practicing homosexuals have no business expecting the Mormon church to support their lifestyle or political agenda.

No "sexual relations."

Are sexual relations all that can be considered a violation? What about watching pornography?

Two homosexuals holding hands in public are engaging in open homosexual affection, which according to your own post is against university regulations (there are other schools one can attend) and which imply sexual intimacy...homosexual intimacy, and homosexual intimacy is, according to Gospel teachings, a violation of the Law of Chastity by definition because it is an utter refutation of the Lord's laws regarding human sexuality as a concept.

Oh, and by the way, this is not censorship. The pictures are up online, as one can tell it one has read this thread.

The links don't work for me. Says the pages don't exist.

Perhaps BYU's lawyers got involved.

Exactly! Thank you for making my point. The Church and BYU go out of their way to claim that, so long as the Law of Chastity is obeyed, gays are welcome in full membership in the Church and at BYU. This clearly is not true. "Holding hands" does not violate any interpretation of the Law of Chastity, but yet homosexuals can't hold hands and heterosexuals can. There is absolutely a different standard despite compliance with the Law of Chastity.

Same with me. Apparently they've been yanked. But by whom ...?

I answered my own question. The artist removed them for the following reasons (the link is below the quote):

Because my other blog was intended as a place to write my personal thoughts about my life, I have decided to remove the posts from that site and refer all traffic to this photography blog. This was done out of respect to my friends and family. This choice was made by myself as I felt I still wanted to retain some privacy and be respectful to my family and friends.

I am currently enrolled at BYU and wish to finish my education here. As long as I am enrolled as a student, I have a responsibility to abide by BYU's honor code. This is the ethical and honest thing to do. I would hope that all individuals would realize that this project was produced in the spirit of love and respect for all parties involved. It is my hope that my artists statement for this body of work would allow for a reflection on the what it is to support all people of any religious background, race, or sexual orientation. May we all strive to live by the golden rule and treat others the way we wish to be treated.

Sounds to me as if someone at BYU was applying pressure to the poor kid.

Excellent point, Rollo. Clearly BYU practices a double standard on chastity in the case of gays. It seems they seems they perceive their duty with regard to gays to prevent any kind of intimacy, since the outcome, in their eyes, can only be sinful. For heteros, they are looking to get them to marry as soon as possible under the right circumstances (return missionaries and 18-year-old virgins).
