I'd be very surprised if they treated the Gen'l YW presidency any differently than they treat a ward's YW presidency. They are all under a man's thumb at whatever their level is. So whoever is in charge of the Gen'l YW presidency is who got the letter and who will tell those women about the change.

Nothing changes. Ever. Women are 2nd class citizens and are genetically unable to lead, according to those with "authority". And people wonder why I grant them no authority in my life?

My dear sweet sister, do you not understand? Sisters are more spiritual and righteous than men, therefore they do not need leadership callings. Men need these callings to become more spiritual. Besides, women get to bear children and be mothers. Men cannot. Why did God give the calling of motherhood, yea even the most important calling of all, to women? Because he loves you the most. In order to lift men up to the same level as women, god gave them the priesthood. It's a marvelous and wonderful plan.

It's a crock of horse manure. I calls it as I smells it.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Actually, no. At least not according to the official Scout handbook. Here is an excerpt from the official Boy Scout site:

http://www.usscouts.org/advance/boyscout/bsoath.asp
. . . and morally straight.

To be a person of strong character, your relationships with others should be honest and open. You should respect and defend the rights of all people. Be clean in your speech and actions, and remain faithful in your religious beliefs. The values you practice as a Scout will help you shape a life of virtue and self-reliance.

Now, the Church may interpret this differently, but this is the official stance.

LOL! I wholeheartedly agree, Harm.

Oh, and, SatanWasSetUp, it's a "wonderful and marvelous plan".

since they always harp on how many LDS girls dress slutty (in their eyes).

Perhaps you could post two pictures. One of a girl who is just barely not slutty and one of a girl who is just not quite modest. I would like to see your opinion on the matter.

I'd bet you a 4 cow woman that the "morally straight" wording was used before "straight" became a moniker for "heterosexual".

Oh, I know ... I've just heard folks at Church refer to it this way in the past few years (I think since the BSA vs. gays legal battles).

Do they really harp on it that much or is that just all you really notice? I think they harp more on Tithing, Temples, Obedience, the Atonement, and a dozen other things.

Note also how the letter is written just to male leaders -- local YW leaders have to get it from the bishop (and not even the Gen'l YW presidency got the letter!).

I'm guessing the general YW presidency knew about this first and didn't need a letter. They have to help rewrite some of the course material based on this and distribute this to the Stake and Ward levels.

Not when it comes to young women. Modesty is among the most harped-about topics to that particular group.
