Re: Major League Lardbutts
Humans don't need very many calories just to maintain a slim frame. The idea that it's "too expensive" to eat healthy is a myth. It's exactly the right equation. You should spend a lot of money on a little bit of food, not a little bit of money on a lot of food. I'm an adult male that, if I were to choose to be sedentary, could get by on 1800-1900 calories being sedentary, and I'm being generous. That adds up extremely fast.
Most of us only burn, through daily activity an additional 300-500 calories on top of the 1200-1900 calories a female or male needs to subsist. In other words, it's very easy to gain wait without realizing it.
The bottom line is a person has to choose to forgo the cheap, easy, and plentiful supplies of crap in order to be fit. It's a choice. Calories are heat. Energy. Mass is converted into energy. Energy into mass. That's a universal law. All the rest is BS. You either do it or you don't. There's no magic in weight loss, just as there's no deity. It's a hard, tough, disciplined road one must walk in order to be trim and fit. Anything outside of that is a choice to be fat.

It's prophecy?
Yes. Prophecy is the divine gift of speaking "the truth" as revealed by a god.

I do happen to very much agree with the Penguin, Moksha here.

And, Speaking of the Word of Wisdom, Tea should definitely be Not against the Word of Wisdom. Tea is a Healthy drink for the Body. And, didn't Joseph Smith make and drank Tea?

I don't' agree.
There is SO much more that factors into weight gain than simple calories.

I don't want to sit in an endowment room with someone who is high or drunk or smells of cigarette smoke. Part of me wants to add garlic pills to the WoW for the same reason. :)
Coffee and tea I see as piddling sins along with the occasional beer. I don't know why God has first cautioned against and then forbidden them in this dispensation. I have guesses but I just obey. It is easy for me though so I don't take any great pride in it.
So re-write the WoW as The Commandment of Health and state EXACTLY what is not allowed. No more of this Well, caffeine is against the WoW. No it's not. Yes it is. blah blah blah.
Also, I'd have to say that was one of the biggest surprises for me when I got out of Mormonism. It is actually possible to have an alcoholic drink without being a drunk. I quite enjoy a beer with my steak from time to time without becoming a raging alcoholic. Weird, huh.

I have friends who drink without becoming drunk. I learned this lesson as well. Nowhere is caffeine stated as being against the Word of Wisdom. We have a prohibition on 'hot drinks' which the leaders have clarified to mean coffee and non-herbal teas. Seems straightforward to me.
I say let members argue about caffeine if they like. Keeps the dogmatic out of trouble.

Are you talking from the exception or the norm? Because the norm is:
You eat more than you burn in calories you get fat.
You can’t trust adults to tell you the truth.

What's worse? A cup of coffee or a hot egg nog?
