The river ascribed as flowing out of the Garden and becomming four heads doesn't really match anything in Iraq or Turkey.

Doesn't match Missouri either.

I've noticed that the verses used to justify a garden of Eden in or near Adam-ondi-Ahman don' actually state or imply that the Garden was in the U.S. Adam simply spoke to his posterity there after living for 900 years. Plenty of time to move around.

However, in a favorite theory of mine, I do notice that the Greek mythological equivalent of Eden, the Garden of the Hesperides, is said by them to be located in the "far west". Atlas Mountains? Spain? The US?

In anything doctrinal? Perhaps it's there somewhere, but I haven't seen it.

[auote="Tevor the Superior"]Your tone is just academic snotty enough to pass my snoot-test. If you had refrained from using a word like 'crummy,' I would have mistaken you for one of my colleagues. Also, remember that, as an academic, it is wise never to admit fault in the way you did. Better luck next time, or be glad you do not belong in my insane world.[/quote]

Let me try that again.

I, Jersey Girl, screwed up a post. I misattributed a post to Trevor instead of Ray A the original author of the post. I scanned the thread and fell victim to the inadequacies of my reading comprehension. I am but a lowly worm in the garden of "thought" that is Mormon Discussions. I am the composter extraordinaire of posters. My compositional integrity itself, is compost in practice. It should be viewed by all who wish never to duplicate my lowly anti-intellectual error and form, and thus sparing themselves from the public shame of correction for which I extend my humble gratitude.

The best of this genre I ever read.

I have a good start this day.
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei
