Toward a Theory of Mopologetics

I miss that dossier thing. I'm not sure how I came across them, but that was responsible for piquing my interest in this board. The dossiers provided a huge service by tearing away the veneer of Internet anonymity that in of itself produces a certain amount of credibility since all we have are the thoughts that are expressed. However, by categorizing the apologists and laying bare the words and thoughts that they themselves have expressed he humanized them and produced a body of Mopologist work that was very effective in exposing the sheer lunacy and stupidity of defending a clear fraud.

Instead of producing a class of erudite and worthy intelligenstia, Mormon produced a gallery full of Keystone Cops and character assassins.

Fruits, indeed.

It sounds, as8, like you are proposing not only updating the categories of Mopologists, but also actually sticking Mopologists in these categories. This would be very useful for critics, a sort of reference guide so that they know who they are dealing with. I would love this.

By the way, I thought the dossiers were only metaphorical. I had no idea that there were real dossiers! Oh, how I wish I had seen those.

Yeah, Scratch's dossiers were real people, or their aliases anyway. I'd say he has them on his hard drive somewhere, too much fun in them there files to go and delete them.

Kishkumen, you'll be ecstatic to know that you can in fact still read all the dossiers. They exist in their entirety on Mister Scratch's blog. All of the Dossiers are numbered and titled on the left pane. What happened is this, in arguably the biggest blunder of this board (sorry Shades), the software was upgraded which really destroyed the blog culture here. All the hyperlinks and embedded pictures were destroyed, appearing as a jumbled mess now between the content which kind of ruins the feel. But, all the information is still their for those who can look past this.

I am ecstatic. This means that valuable information for understanding Mopologists has not been lost. Now what it needs is an accessible and pleasing presentation, which I am guessing it lost in the board restructuring.

Maybe he can brainstorm and find a way to compensate for the damage that was done to Mopologetic studies by the partial dissolution of Scratch's dossiers.

My guess is Scratch would have to go in and reformat everything. Quite a bit of work. In my own case I didn't consider it worth it, so I just deleted my blog (quite a bit of personal material was made public and I thought it prudent to just delete). The switch over also deleted all comments it appears. The damage is irrepairable imho. Be glad you got the dossiers at all.

I think the only reasonable fix is a community effort. If this board works like the last one, scratch might be able to give a few other posters access to his blog. If three or four of us fixed 5 posts a week, the bliog would soon be restored. I think it would be just a matter of deleting extraneous characters, is that right, bond?

With all due respect, you have made the rookie mistake of failing to consider the most critical component of the faith equation--i.e. the intent and purpose of the restored gospel of Christ.

Whereas many apologists are incapable of considering the crazy-as-bat-dung equation, for obvious reasons.

There are many things that appear to be obviously crazy to narrow and uncomprehending minds.

Probably. It wouldn't take that long really to do it would be my guess if you had a legion of people fixing the things. The question is would Scratch [he who plays things close to the vest] allow a legion of people access to the administrative panel?
