It sounds as if Bro. Joseph has become your proverbial 'golden calf.'
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."

Lamanite

Another example of the hero worship that exists in the church today.

Actually, Lamanite, the only blessings you ever get are directly linked to Christ. Without him, we have no Atonement. We certainly don't pray to Our Father in the name of Joseph Smith.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

yet..
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

I think putting the hymns together about the restoration is a fine thing. But some of the comments are a bit much.

You are a master of understatement, Jason.

Joseph's birthday falls remarkably near to an ancient pagan holiday celebrating Mithras and Sol Invictus. Coincidence?

I would bet that if we had an intimate portrait of Jesus (a non-faith-promoting one), as we do of Joseph Smith, that there would not be a great many differences. Jesus was a wine bibber and mixed with harlots and publicans. But we only see the faith-promoting side.
