I'm not really sure how to explain it clearer than that. I was literally banned for calling Mr. Peterson "Mr. Peterson". The regulars and moderators thought I was being disrespectful by showing respect to Mr. Peterson.
Very Respectfully,

Do you happen to have a link to your disrespectful respect?
I'm not even sure how I would be able to provide that. I think you need to be logged-in in order to use the search feature.
They wanted me to call him Dr. Peterson, but I didn't think it was appropriate. I don't work for BYU, and I'm not involved in a field where that would be expected when talking to a colleague. I felt like my show of respect was actually pretty admirable, since I regard Mr. Peterson as a liar and deceiver. It is simply a term of etiquette if someone wants to show respect for that person's education, but since we're not discussing Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, for which he received his PhD, I just don't think it's appropriate to assign to him a level of understanding and education he doesn't possess that comes with the term "doctor".
Regardless, calling someone "Mr." rather than "Dr." isn't offensive. It's the opposite of that. And to have been banned for that "offense" has to be one of the most surreal moments I've ever had with Mormons... And I've had quite a few of those.

Of course it's a subject of ridicule. As it should be. I'm a nevermo, and have been on these boards a couple years [for what reason I shall never know ] and having immersed myself in the boards as I have I often forget how regoshdarndiculous Mormonism is. I think I've even let that insane Mormon logic seep into my pores a bit. Really there is no point for apologetics. It's only a couple of steps above making an argument for the Flat or Hollow Earth. It's that damn ridiculous. No evidence. Nothing. So the story ends up getting twisted up worst than a screenwriter going to town on novel and changing so many details such that the only thing that remains the same is the title. It's freaking insane.
Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

Wait a minute, Antishock... THIS is your banning post:

It's almost like all you need to do is just ramble out some sort of nonsensical thought and that's that. You're cured of objective thought. That's crazy. Don't you realize what you just typed is pure foolishness? Utter nonsense? You have to realize it, I'm sure, on some level because you're not being taken in by every modern preacher or soothesayer that claims to have revelation from upon High. Once again, I'm stunned by a believer's irrational faith. Stunned.
If you are not interested in discussion and only ridicule then why be here? Why not leave this board and go to one more your style. Consider this a warning.

I'm speaking to you and your ilk in very plain, clear and concise language. I don't delve into counter-apologia because that behavior simply reinforces the Mormon meme. You're threatened because I don't play pretend with you. You can take your toys and go home, or you can grow up and start to discuss things in an adult, rational manner. I hope, for your sake and for the sake of other Mormons caught up in their mass delusion, you act like an adult and engage rather than exclude because your feelings are hurt.
Where did you get the idea you were banned for calling DCP "Mr Peterson"??
