Re: Most Mormons get so pissed
So I go up to this guy the other day at the gym and I'm like "hey fatty, you disgust me." I have no clue why the guy was so afraid to talk to me about weight loss.

What are they afraid of? Don't they believe Joseph Smiths statements that 'the gospel' includes all truth?
Since you've chosen to deal in terms of "most", I should think that "most Mormons" aren't prepared to engage in discussion of early writings/history other than the general circumstances surrounding the beginnings of their religion/church. When they hear something that is unknown them, it's simply unknown and seems strange.
How else should Mormons' respond to hearing something strange regarding what they feel and know to be true about their church? I would reject it myself.
Wouldn't you?
Seriously, this isn't a well thought out criticism.

I have two daughters; one is militant feminist, other one is reasonably active.
I don't discuss church with my active daughter, but if I went her and told that Joseph Smith
took 33 other wives & took other mens wives as his own. I am sure she'd be shocked for a while
if she didn't know this fact.

"f you didn't use offensive and inflammatory terms like "LDS Inc", or ridiculous statements about digging up Zelph. You could also stop mocking President Spencer W. Kimball".
Who do you make the checks out to? The Corporation...
Joseph Smith claimed in front of a number of witnesses, church publications printed it, They re-buried this 'great white lamanite warrior'. Are you calling Joseph and the Church Leaders who were there liars?
Mocking Spencer W. Kimball? He stated plainly that YOUR people embracing the gospel were getting whiter. "White and delightsome" is the specific term I heard from him.
He said all those inhabitants of the Island of the Sea were Lamanites. NOT NEPHITES or separate groups, but Lamanites.
Every revelation Joseph had and all his teachings about Lamanites had them in North America. Zelph, the one he had a revelation about and helped re-bury was known from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean.
Ask most LDS about the shootout at Carthage Jail where Joseph shot three, killing two before being killed himself. Ask them why many non LDS sources put on famous LDS ladys name as Eliza R. Snow Smith but LDS Inc continues to use Eliza R. Snow.
LDS Inc., is Big Business. It has no accounting to the rank and file who pay the bills. Too many 'leaders' are slimballs, from the leaders who freely broadcast confessions of members to those like a Stake President near Logan that would follow the women employed in his financial institution in Ogden into the bathroom and molest them. They didn't formally complain because of his Church Position.(though one said no complaints because she didn't want her husband in prison for killing this bastard)
Ask in Priesthood(where one should be able to ask and discuss LDS topics and information freely) why Joseph never wrote to his other wives from jail and one of the very few letters we have of him writing to another wife is to tell her to come visit him but hide it from Emma. Ask why the First Presidency made a nice statement on the Negro in 1949(or close) and years later made an accomodation that is a 180 from it... conveniently stopping boycots against BYU basketball and football. Ask how many wives Joseph had. Ask about the Danites. Ask any number of questions such as why so many tell lied in trying to convince others they have 'the truth'. (You know, like the 'too many women' crap in trying to justify dirty old men picking and screwing young girls and Church Leadership complaining that european missionaries were taking the 'pretty ones' and sending the ugly ones to Utah)
Ask about God personally coming down and having sex with Mary to conceive Jesus.
Go ahead, ask something other than the carefully guided watered down pablum that is being presented this coming year as 'church history' and see what happens. Few in the LDS Church read much of anything.(not really any different from most others in that respect) Few ask questions. Getting an answer to a question is nearly impossible. I know, I tried getting one for a number of years as to Gordon B Hinckleys statement 'Polygamy is not doctrinal'.
So if LDS Inc is your stumbling block then trip hard and get hurt. It is only an excuse to avoid reality.

solo,
I didn't want you to think I didn't see or didn't want to reply to your post however, as so often is the history of exchanges between yourself and I, I don't know what it is you're trying to communicate.
When you begin with "How so?" , I don't know which part of my post you're referring to.
Your comments regarding how you think your daughter would react, demonstrate what I stated in my post when I made the comment you selected for your post about why LDS react the way they do.
The main point I tried to convey was that when some Mormons hear or read about parts of the history they're unfamiliar with, they are unprepared for that event, it sounds strange to them (because it IS strange to them), they reject it and I think that's a perfectly normal response.
I don't plan to continue these exchanges with you since all to often, it results in an ongoing series of miscommunications.
We simply don't "read" each other well.

Re-read it again, what you wrote....
Under what circumstances you'd reject a factual statement?
how far you'd go with it?
bye.

Next time, will you please ask what the original "good" thing was, and return and report?

What do they fear? That their reality doesn't match the real reality. That their truth sits on a shaky foundation. That their faith in Christ is less than their faith in Joseph... that they placed their salvation in the hands of men, not God.
What God r u talking about? Is this entity stronger than what Mormons worship?
How am I do discern which one is real.
Since my cognitive senses absolutely do not recognize any supernatural.
Please help me here.

Heh.
Recently on MAD, a poster (can't remember who... Wes maybe?) asked how the BY quote where he says something to the effect that he would be justified and sinless to impale one of his wives if he caught her cheating was taken out of context. The apologists went to war defending that it WAS indeed taken out of context. They just couldn't really explain how. It just was.

I believe it. One of the truths is that homosexual acts are sin.
Um....OK....What does the fact that Mormons consider homosexual acts as sin have anything to do with Squakeye's OP?
