Daniel Peterson wrote:Well, okay. You can scarcely remember being Mormon, are pretty much indifferent to the subject, and feel entirely normal. And your posting here, and your personal hostility toward Mormons and Mormonism, are entirely consistent with that.

That's not what my sig says. Where does it say I'm "pretty much indifferent to the subject?"

You don't see a difference between, "I've pretty much forgotten that I was ever a Mormon at all" and, "I can scarcely remember being Mormon?" Let me explain it to you, given that you seem so awash in the Mormon lifestyle, the difference is lost on you.

When I say, "I've pretty much forgotten that I was ever a Mormon at all" what I'm saying is that it's no longer how I self-identify. Is that really so difficult for you to understand? It doesn't mean I don't remember what it was like to be a Mormon. If I think about it, or when someone mentions something about the experience, I can certainly remember. The fact that I don't see myself as Mormon at all, however, makes me feel normal. Mormonism and Mormons are certainly not normal.

And by the way, you think I'm hostile toward you because you're a Mormon? LOL

I'm not hostile toward Mormons just because they're Mormons. There are a lot of Mormons I really like; there are some right here on this board with whom I enjoy talking.

I'm hostile toward arrogant pricks like you who are condescending and act like they're smarter than everyone else, especially when they're clearly wrong about so many things yet can't admit it to save their lives. Being right seems more important to their ego than being humble, so much so that they end up looking like a fool arguing positions that have long since been shown to be fallacious. It's fun to mess with people like that, because they deserve it. It entertains me. You're just like Kevin Graham. I treat him the same way, and he's no longer a Mormon, last I heard.

Pretty silly post, trying to re-state a rather obvious signature line and making a vulgar insult to a Mormon who happens to rely upon the obvious signature line.

Why do you waste your time trading insults with Mormons since you despise them so?

I don't care what you think either. Believe what you will.

I will say that I find it interesting that at least a couple of Mormons only see one interpretation of my signature, which just goes to show how deeply entrenched in the Mormon mindset they are without even realizing the implications to their perception. It's little wonder why some Mormons laugh off the idea of a "recovery from Mormonism."

If you assume it's true (that I despise Mormons), that's a pretty stupid question.

I hope you don't mind if I simply base my beliefs about you upon what you write.

Since I don't know you personally.

I don't think so. You mock and despise the few faithful Mormons on this board and I really wonder why it is necessary. Life is a little short to go around calling good people, as well as bad, vulgar names all the time. [But, I am guilty as well trading with you; fish can only swim so far in the barrel.]

Attempting serious conversation with Some Schmo is pointless. Sort of like trying to dialogue with collegeterrace/PP.

Among this class of MDB poster, you'd have better luck with poor antishock8, say, or TAK or solomarineris.

I've got a good idea, DCP. You obviously had something to do with the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit (the one with the Gold Plates at the end of the exhibit) that passed through Germany, did you not?

I bet if you explained just how successful that exhibit was here in Germany, you could dispel all rumours and innuendos to the contrary concerning your ability to entertain serious conversation. Probably everyone would be interested to hear how it went.

What was the purpose of that exhibit anyway?

How can Mormonism be a chip on anyone's shoulder? I would think it might be an albatross around the neck, a monkey on the back, a dog nipping at one's heels...but a chip?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Who said anything about Mormonism being a chip on anyone's shoulder?

Not I.

Johnny: "How can Paris be London?"

I did.

Do you think?

I doubt it.

And I don't take seriously anybody here who doubts my ability to entertain serious conversation. The people with whom I routinely have serious conversations have no doubts on that score, and they're the kind of people I do take seriously.

gramps wrote:Probably everyone would be interested to hear how it went.

I doubt that many here care.

Anyway, I would have to get some facts and figures.

gramps wrote:What was the purpose of that exhibit anyway?

Its purpose(s) should have been fairly evident.
