I was hoping someone would start an 80's thread. :)

I am right with you KA on the bangs. I used to spend so much time getting them just the right height and curl. Did you have a caboodle?

Then there was the tapered ankle pants.....trying to get them to stay perfect each day took so much effort.
Remember when Z Cavarachi's came out? The perfect tapered ankle.
I couldn't afford them in High School but bought a pair from TJ Maxx my first year of College just to have one.

My favorite band from the 80's was Depeche Mode and I still listen to them.

I also loved the big rock bands "Guns n Roses" (a favorite), "Tesla", "Def Leppard", "Cinderella", "Scorpions", ......

Loved "INXS", The Cure, Erasure, and many others.
I'll post links to my favorite songs next.

KA,

Shade's post gave me an idea. What about posting our Senior portraits?

I spent the 80's working on a PhD. I also worked part time in a record store then, too. I don't think I have any pictures from that era. I was freezing in upstate New York with very short spiky hair and thrift-store clothes: cotton dresses, mohair sweaters and any children's clothes from the 50's I could fit into. My style guru was Hopey Glass in Love & Rockets:

Hmm...the 80s. I was born then. I was 4 when they ended...yeah. That's about it. I watch movies from the 80s though.

Mine would be from another era entirely. I barely made it out of the 60's alive.

Besides, I'd need to shrink to an acceptable size, even if I managed to get it scanned (I think I can scan it, but it's 8x11, so that would mean it's too big to post). And then I'd have to figure out how to post it.

So many details!
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

E-mail me the picture and I'll take care of the rest.

Blixa, I can totally see you with that hairstyle! And that attitude. I love it.

Jersey Girl, posting senior pics is a great idea. I don't have any. My parents wouldn't pay for them, but even if they would've, the pics would have burned in the house fire. But, I'd LOVE to see any senior pics folks are willing to post!

Shades, you still look like that.

Brackite and BCSpace--great song lists! Love them.

Seven, I didn't have a caboodle, but I wore out a dozen curling irons, I bet! I also loved Depeche Mode. "Pick up the receiver, I'll make you a believer...."

And Bond, stop bragging about being so young! ;P Or, as Blixa says, fetal.

I'm actually trying to get a senior pic up. It's remarkably like me now, but imho it's the best picture ever of me. If that doesn't work go here people and see me [this was taken right after I graduated, currently I have very short hair and am probably another 20 lbs lighter, but that's basically how I still look]:

My four year old demands I play this song in the car:
"Send me an angel" by Real Life

This is why I dislike music videos and usually avoid them. I recommend closing your eyes if you loved this song and don't want your own image massacred. (but it's one of the funniest 80's videos I've seen)

My kids also love "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell.
