Re: Does Uncle Dale Receive Special Protection Here?
I believe that marg's moderatorial decisions in that thread were made with the intent to keep the thread on topic, not to censor anyone.
Is that too charitable of an interpretation?

Here's a little test to determine this, Shades. I haven't undertaken it, but I'm relying on what I have seen on that thread. Go through the thread and check where marg (not other mods) has censored supporters of the Spalding theory, or warned them. I've already pointed out her inconsistency in only picking on critics of the theory.

Marg, this is an excellent thing to do. Uncle Dale is a treasure trove of knowledge.
No it is not.
Dale does not deserve any different treatment than anyone else here.

Like it or not, Ray, thread starters play an integral part in leading the direction of their thread. That's one of the things I have always appreciated about this board. The thread starter can set up parameters for discussion specific to the topic of the thread.
Liz, in my experience very few MDB posters have "claimed" threads, and most MDB posters, truly, don't give a rat's about the fact that they started a thread. It's very, very rare for them to try to control threads they've started, but you can correct me. I have never done it. I have never intervened in a thread and said, "ahem...thread starter here....".
But sure, if you say that's the go, then that's the go. Maybe more thread starters will exercise their privileges more in future. I won't be one of them, and I've had more threads hijacked than a pilots flying between Havana and Miami. I don't care. It's a free discussion board.
Control the thread? Tell me, how did I control the pinned thread?
No really. Humor me.

Oi Vay,
The spalding theory has not been given preferential treatment. I want good discussion. I want critics to post and show what they have against the Spalding theory. That's why I asked the very question to critics in the thread .."what was their best evidence or theories against the Spalding theory. I wasn't asking Dale, I had in mind Nevo or other critics might respond to it.
I'm certainly not fearful of learning about any evidence which might go against the Spalding theory. I have no emotional investment in the theory. It has no affect on my life one way or the other. I'm not exmormon, not Mormon, not christian, not religious at all. It doesn't matter one bit to me whether J. Smith was the sole -author or not. Whatever the deciding conclusion is, it won't affect my life. So Ray please don't accuse me of bias. There is no reason for me to be.

You controlled the thread by asking for it to be given Celestial status in the Terrestrial (unprecedented on MDB), then asking for marg to moderate it when the other mods would have done just as well. WHY did you ask for marg specifically? Because she "had nothing to do in the Celestial"? Out of a job? There was harmony, Liz, Scottie, and even Shades, who could have adequately moderated the thread, but you wanted marg, and in the latter stages marg started calling out the critics, while ignoring the ad homs of Spalding supporters.

You don't think it's excessive for Mikwut to say to Dale, he's being flippant, dismissive, failing miserably and whatever else he said in his one line zinger, after the lengthy detailed replies Dale has offered and when all Dale did was offer a concise reply as requested.
You think it's too much to ask Mikwut to refrain do you? He wasn't censored, anything deleted or moved and I told him I might delete ad homs in the future.
Anyhow I must go watch Am. Idol.

As best I can re-construct the recent past, Ray believes that I was granted
special privileges, due to my cognitive difficulties -- but he did not know how
to articulate that notion, so he accused you of being a Spalding promoter.
I ask no special privileges -- but my prognosis is not good, and the day is
approaching when I will no longer be able to make use of a computer at all.
I'm trying to get as much done in the time that remains.
All this back-and-forth over which moderator is a Spalding advocate, and which
one is not, seems terribly trivial to a person whose life is literally slipping away,
while others debate seemingly endless gripes.
I am highly inclined to abandon all postings here and go back to the MAD board,
where I can avoid all the mindless distraction.
Will Ray please declare victory and end all the bickering over how he became the victor.
Please.
Dale

I asked marg if she could make a split because she was online at the same time I was. Just like I contact any other moderator who is online at the same time I am if I want to ask a question or make a request.
I then sent Shades a PM asking him if marg could split the thread because I knew I was asking a moderator who was chiefly responsible for moderating the Celestial Forum to take action on a Terrestrial thread. He showed up not long after and said yes.
Is there any other part of my business you want to know about?
You continue to use the phrase "Celestial Status" and I've yet to see you even define it. My best guess is that you don't even know who used that phrase previously and for some unknown reason you're attributing it's use to me.
I simply asked that the thread be pinned, be cleaned up and that people keep it on topic.
