Does Uncle Dale Receive Special Protection Here?
Re: Does Uncle Dale Receive Special Protection Here?
by the way, Ray with regards to unfair treatment please note as you go through the thread,... I deleted an ad hom by Bryon against D. Peterson. He called him Danny Boy and I deleted it and wrote in red (ad hom) then replaced that with Mr. Peterson. When why me wrote 3 smilies rather than move his post I deleted his smilies. Quite frankly the moderation has been minimal.
But Ray, Dale is right, you win. I won't mod that thread. There are other things in life more important than this pettiness. And I too want to move on from this.

So Ray please don't accuse me of bias. There is no reason for me to be.
As best I can re-construct the recent past, Ray believes that I was granted
special privileges, due to my cognitive difficulties -- but he did not know how
to articulate that notion, so he accused you of being a Spalding promoter.
I ask no special privileges -- but my prognosis is not good, and the day is
approaching when I will no longer be able to make use of a computer at all.
I'm trying to get as much done in the time that remains.
All this back-and-forth over which moderator is a Spalding advocate, and which
one is not, seems terribly trivial to a person whose life is literally slipping away,
while others debate seemingly endless gripes.
I am highly inclined to abandon all postings here and go back to the MAD board,
where I can avoid all the mindless distraction.
Will Ray please declare victory and end all the bickering over how he became the victor.
Please.
Dale
Dale, I'm sorry about your condition. But there's a harsh reality you have to face here. You chose to post. You chose to defend the Spalding Theory to your last breath. That's very admirable. If you want no opposition to your ideas, then I suggest that Shades give you the Authorship thread on your own to expound your ideas.
But if you welcome opposing ideas, then I'm only calling out how the moderation in that regard has been biased.

Almost all of Dan's posts on this thread have been off-topic. The fact still remains that you believe that Dale warranted special protection. No one on MDB has ever received this. DCP has been subjected to far, far more innuendo and character assassination here, but he has never engaged in any "special pleading".

I suggest, seriously, that the Authorship thread be consigned to the Celestial. Just like Vogel's. Why should it have any preferential status over Vogel's?

It doesn't have preferential status over Vogel's.

No? Then why was it so important to bring it (or give it special status) into the Terrestrial? More exposure? Why would a pro-Spalding thread deserve "more exposure"? Don't kid me, Jersey Girl.
Put your actions where your mouth is and take that thread to the Celestial. That will solve half the problems.

For the love of....
Seriously? "Danny Boy" is enough to not only get deleted, but REPLACED with "Mr. Peterson"?????
This kind of moderation is incredibly stupid. The actions Ray originally described (and the admitted preferential treatment given to UD, for whom I have the utmost respect) are also very stupid. It's one thing to moderate for vulgarities and out-and-out attacks, but "protecting" a poster and replacing supposed ad homs with more "respectful" language is ultimately misguided and quite frankly, insulting to the participants on this board.
Oh, and I agree with Ray that either the pinned thread gets treated as any other in this particular forum, or it gets moved up to Celestial to follow those stricter rules. Otherwise it's being mis-moderated.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

What special status does it have, Ray?

Which other thread, in the history of MDB, has been given Celestial status in the Terrestrial forum?

Governed by the rules of the Celestial forum, while in the Terrestrial forum.
