I'm doing some research on Mary Ellen Smoot - who sits on the Board of Directors at the Mormon gulag - and read in several places that she served on the Church Hosting Committee.

"They were called as directors of Church hosting for VIPs, where her primary responsibility was to host prominent individuals who host church leaders. "
Can someone tell me what this Committe is?
What is the "Church Hosting Committee"

If people want to really botch/bungle something, they make a committee.
In hungarian, this expression is more sounding. To botch, to bungle is "f*** away" (literal translation).

Sounds like a Welcome Wagon. I wonder how many other committees there are that the rank and file knows nothing about?

What a perfect opportunity to dress the MiaMaids in little french maid outfits had have them serve the guests. We can call them 'hostess cupcakes'.

Committee heads at that level (those dealing with VIPs would have to be upper echelon types) would not call upon the local ward for volunteers. They'd pay caterers handsomely for excellent service (using tithing funds, no doubt). Appearing provincial and tacky is not where Pres Hinckley took the church and not where Pres Monson currently leads it. The days of making fun of Utah for being socially backwards have gone, thanks to the Olympics and Gov. Romney.
