Question of Book of Mormon Timelines

Post by _moksha »

Has the timeline of events presented in the Book of Mormon remained consistent through all the revisions?

Not an expert, but the timelines are pretty well set from the date of Christ's appearance. I don't think you would find any flexibility unless the numbers themselves actually changed.

Why are you asking about changed timelines, Moksha?

Moksha, are you talking about within Chapel Mormonism or Internet Mormonism?

I'd imagine that there is a great deal more flexibility in the timeline of the Internet Mormon..
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I assume he means the timeline printed in the Book of Mormon, which is respected as part of the scripture by chapel Mormons but only believed when convenient by internet Mormons. So has the printed timeline changed? - I think that's what Moksha is asking?

Here is an example to what I meant:

Have any of the dates for events in the Book of Mormon been changed from the original printing to put it more in line with the history of ancient Israel, or have any of the dates of events been changed for reasons of narrative consistency?
