The Amazing Droopy

Post by _Analytics »

On MAD, SMAC began a thread in reaction to a British government official who believes that steps should be taken to curb population growth. Not surprisingly, Smac is adamantly opposed to curbing population growth.

I entered the thread to make a pretty simple point that shouldn’t be that difficult to grasp and isn’t really contestable: that exponential population growth can’t and won’t go on indefinitely. If we don’t voluntarily choose to curb humanity’s exponential growth, nature will eventually curb it for us.

Droopy took great offense at me saying this and claimed, “overpopulation is yet another leftist ideological foil useful against economic liberty, property rights, democratic institutions, and the Left's most hated instruments of reaction, the bourgeoisie family and religion.”

I wasn’t even aware that I even had any hated instruments of reaction. In any case, he then spewed out a truly impressive stream of colorful nonsense, associated me with just about everything that is evil in the world. He reminds me of the Stifler character in American Pie with the unique talent for firing out profanities in such a rapid-fire, unique way that it is artistic in its own right. To wit, Droopy associated me with the following things:

militant gnostic pantheism
a fundamentalist earth religion
the remnants of the old communist left
the New Left
the putative Soviet Union
watermelon environmentalism
anti-capitalism
anti-liberalism
the deep ecology movement
a modern eclectic and ideological resurgence of pagan nature worship
anti-democratic
anti-rational
the secular revolutionary form
Al Gore (who is, I quote, “the most anti-rational and dangerous demagogue in my lifetime, and certainly of the 20th century”)
predictive failure
intellectual dishonesty
hysterical fear mongering
anti-natalism
pure, unreconstructed and unambiguous evil
a worldview that is in all essential ways, religious in nature
junk science (yet again) in the service of ideology
socialism
the now infamous Boomer era narcissism
Classic leftist thought processes
Malthusian and Ehrlichian junk science
the brave new world gambit
authoritarian statism
vigorous social control (socialism, communism, fascism, or some cross fertilization)
Logan's Run
Soylent Green
proletarian revolution
Comte
rational social control grounded in the manipulation of human beings
Paul Ehrlich
long discredited shibboleths
environmental fraud
the anti-nuclear movement
global cooling
global warming
the ozone layer depletion hoax
the Northern Spotted Owl extinction hoax
the Dioxin scare
the Alar scare
deep hostility to children
radical feminists
the abortion culture
the western intelligentsia
a militant relativistic Pantheist doctrine of the moral equivalence of all life
The Nazis (you knew this was coming sooner or later!)

All that was in about three diatribes. The Nazis was his last insult in what was intended to be his final post. ttribe chimed in, “Droopy - I'd drop the "Nazi" reference in the above post before someone calls for a "Godwin's Law" violation and gets the thread shut down.” Apparently, everything else he said was coherent, meaningful, pertinent, and in no way a violation of Godwin’s law.

Droopy then defending himself said Goodwin’s law wouldn’t be relevant here, claiming that real violations of Goodwin’s law are “a longstanding tradition of my leftist critics.”

He then got back in gear and associated me with:

Goring
Hess
Islamic countries
the animal rights movement
eugenics
H.G.Wells
George Bernard Shaw
John Maynard Keynes
Harold Laski
Sidney and Beatrice Webb
Woodrow Wilson
left wing cultural chauvinism
a gerbil going around and around in its small circular treadmill
the deindustrialization of western civilization

Droopy: I salute you and the talent you've carefully honed to fire insults with unique pompous flare.
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Asbestosman posted a great youtube video on population growth a while back in the off-topic forum. Too lazy to look for it though.

All you have to do is do the math...

Will Schryver: "No, he didn’t." 3/19/08
Still waiting for Will to back this up...

Well Analytics, all I can say is there are a handful of professors stationed at some college or university in South Carolina that surely are learning more than they'd ever bargained for this semester.

"overpopulation is yet another leftist ideological foil useful against economic liberty, property rights, democratic institutions, and the Left's most hated instruments of reaction, the bourgeoisie family and religion"

It's the "bourgeoisie" who have contributed to overpopulation the most, obviously, in the eyes of the left.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Soylent Green... really?

That one does for me.

You really must be a dirt bag.

:surprised:
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

For some reason Act V, Scene 5 of MacBeth comes to mind:

"...it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

He Droops with the best of 'em.

I'd say he's a national treasure but then people would quit taking me seriously.

Come on, analytics. You're getting soft. I remember the good old days when Pahoran said you'd be ok with murdering Mormons.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

He is truly out of his mind.

I find this interesting:

1. gnostic pantheism

2. a fundamentalist earth religion

3. a worldview that is in all essential ways, religious in nature

Is this an insult?
Are we to understand that religion is a bad thing? What happened to the support of religious ideas? Is he a religious bigot?
Stop persecuting us religious folk Droop! LOL
when believers want to give their claims more weight, they dress these claims up in scientific terms. When believers want to belittle atheism or secular humanism, they call it a "religion". -Beastie

Who knows, here it is:

part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4
part 5
part 6
part 7
part 8

Droopy never replied to the initial thread, so, maybe he'll see this and reply. That should be fun...

A true conservative would offer the surplus population the miracle of Malthus and perhaps rescue a few by employing them as servants or factory hands.
