Re: Big Love Season 3 thread
Episode 3.3
And we're back again. My apologies for the later than usual response. Real life got in the way. [Yeah she's a hottie by the way]. Anyway:
1)The return of Rhonda who is dating Bill's half brother. The whole thing is weird. Rhonda is going after a civil trial in addition to testifying in the Roman's trial, and basically Bill wants to cover his ass so that he doesn't have to put his family on the line. Bill wants Rhonda to run and hide, and well Rhonda made a pass at Bill, and anyway it all falls through and Roman ends up getting to threaten Rhonda who in turn will shut up. This ties into the important plot line which will be discussed later.
2)Frank is tied up. All episode. Lois goes through all sorts of things trying to decide what to do, but she has a grave dug. That's the important thing. She also gets to mess with Frank all episode, including spraying him with the garden hose. Later she wusses out on committing suicide [pussy] and then can't kill Frank [pussy]. I really don't believe this storyline. I mean the Lois I know and love would smother Frank. If she doesn't then she just isn't real. To be continued....
3)Weber gaming, the story line that won't die! Bleh. The newest wrinkle is that Barb's sister is part of a PAC that's anti-gaming and since Bill owns Weber, well they just can't stop throwing road blocks in front of Weber gaming. Something something about Barb's sister and her spouse being some random Mormon hierarchical leader and Barb's mom didn't give her the grandfather clock. I don't care.
4)Margene's mom died. I don't care. The ashes were delivered in a shoe box. Jesus they really need to edit better.
5)Anna apparently has another boyfriend. Ho hum, besides the fact that Bill gets a taste out of his own medicine about having to share a significant other, I really don't care. She was with him and Bill caught them, and anyway Anna is still in the picture. She's still on track to be living with Marg by midseason.
6)Sarah is trying to go to prom, apparently she's feeling nostalgic about her childhood since she went and got knocked up, so yada yada she went with Bill's brother Frankie [her uncle] who got crap faced because he wanted to go with Rhonda. So Sarah's senior prom photo was with her brother [who looked quite smashing in his Air Force uniform...when did that happen?] and she eventually told Benny she had a bun in the oven. Filler for this episode. I don't particularly care except that she didn't show any nudity after her tease last episode. No nudity this episode. Man I'm totally bummed
7)Alright on to the important stuff this episode. With Rhonda not testifying it means that Joey's second wife is the sole witness left. They [Joey/Wanda/2nd wife whose name I don't know] ran away from the compound and are hiding with Nicki. As we learned last episode Nicki is acting as a double agent to find out the identities of the witnesses, and is in quite the position. Anyway it comes out and the 2nd wife gives a moving speech in which we touch on the big elephant in the room, the polygamist practice of giving child brides out to men before the girls are ready and are forced into sex.
8) We learn that Nicki was married herself at 15 [before Bill] and it is confirmed that Nicki was married when Nicki sees her photo in the “Joy Books” which are books taken from Roman's possession apparently. The photos not only have head shots of the young girls, but photos of the legs of the girls. Creepy in the first degree. Nicki really shines in this episode. I must say. Anyway Bill finally grew a backbone and decided that this must be stopped and that someone must stop Roman [and Albie]. All I can say is it's about damned time Bill. About damned time. I do care about this storyline, because it's very relevant to the real world and the polygamist compounds and events going on in the US today. My prediction....Nicki will end up testifying against her father. Oh yeah it's going to happen.
Other than that...next time should be good. This episode was really a set up for the next episode, which should see some trial stuff [Chip Esten in the house as prosecutor]. I've been busy so sorry about the crappy recap.

Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

Re: Big Love Season 3 thread
Of note about Kathy [that's Joey's second wife who is going to testify against Roman] is that during her speech in which she gives the details a few characters try to shush her. Everyone wants to keep it in the dark [perhaps subconsciously and perhaps not], but the reality after all the BS about The Principle and God's Plan and whatever that young girls are forced into marriages where they are taken advantage. After all the BS after 3 seasons of Roman vs Bill and the UEB and stores and money and whatever, we get to the issue that really is at the heart of "God's Plan"; young girls being forced into sexual relationships with people they don't love. That's this polygamy crap in a nutshell.
Oh yeah...we learn that Bill's dead sister Maggie committed suicide because she was put into a marriage as mentioned above and it was the only way she could get out of it apparently. Big motivation for Bill to try to take down the compound.

Thankx [2X

Anyone else watching the show? This season is very good despite the annoying storylines, but I wish they'd focus more on the trial for a while and get off Anna/Weber Gaming/Sarah.
I thought the Sarah storyline would be good but I have a feeling no one is going to provide the abortion argument except to say that it's morally wrong. Really is there a time when an abortion is perhaps more appropriate? She's young, doesn't want the kid, doesn't like the father, it was a mistake, she wants to go off to college...why is she at least not considering this? I blame Juno...that sarcastic poser.

And Tina Majorino [or whatever her name is] made out with Frankie, Sarah's Uncle. by the way Rhonda's outfit in that "peed on the toilet seat" scene was hilariously hodgepodge. *Blixa rolls her eyes as Bond passes judgment on anything fashion related*
*Anyone else remember that both Tina Majorino and Jeanne Tripplehorn were both in Waterworld together? I enjoyed that movie way too much. My fascination with dystopian epics is well documented though.

Tina Majorino (Heather), Kyle Gallner (the guy who played Ben's friend Jason in the first season) and Amanda Seyfried (Sarah) were all in "Veronica Mars". "Jason" actually had a really weird plot arch where he dated "Tina", and tried to kill her (after murdering a bunch of other people, and putting a bomb on a private jet to kill Steve Gutenberg). And Amanda was a dead slutty cheerleader.
That was a great show...

Did anyone catch Rhonda giving Roman a "sacred" handshake near the end. She was obviously doing something with her thumb. Was it a token? I wouldn't put it past the writers.

Hm. I thought they were just rubbing each other's hands.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Could be. I'll try to watch it again when HBO reruns it. And I'll try to be sober this time.
