BC,

I would be astonished if you would be so forward as to state your beliefs in a thread that bears your name - however short (and/or dizzying) it may be.

Why don't you give it a whirl - you might even surprise yourself as to what you really think.

Ironically, I seem to one of the few who actually expresses LDS doctrine according to the Church's own rules which offends ex mos and MADB regulars alike for some reason.

You might be disappointed though because the list of doctrines and policies I disagree with is small and of little consequence.

I think it might have been similar to his reaction to the young person who had the temerity to question the antiquity of his Egyptian scrolls:

Saturday morning, 12th [December 1835] At home. Spent the fore noon in reading. At about 12 o'clock a number of young person[s] called to see the Egyptian records. I requested my Scribe to ex[h]ibit them. He did so. One of the young ladies who had been examining them was asked if they had the appearance of Antiquity. She observed with an air of contempt that they did not.

On hearing this I was surprised at the ignorance she displayed and I observed to her that she was an anomaly in creation for all the wise and learned that had ever examined them without hesitation pronounced them antient. I further remarked that it was downright wickedness, ignorance, bigotry, and superstition that caused her to make the remark and that I would put it on record. I have done so because it is a fair sample of the prevailing spirit of the times showing that the victims of priestcraft and superstition would not believe though one should rise from the dead.

I wish we knew the name of the young person. She could join Lucy and Abigail Harris as original Mormon skeptics. We all know about Lucy [where would many of us be if she had not swiped the 116 pages!], Abigail was no slug either:
The old lady [Mother Smith] took me into another room, and after closing the door, she said, "have you four or five dollars in money that you can lend until our business is brought to a close? the spirit has said you shall receive four fold." I told her that when I gave, I did it not expecting to receive again--as for money I had none to lend. I then asked her what her particular want of money was; to which she replied "Joseph wants to take the stage and come home from Pennsylvania to see what we are all about." To which I replied, he might look in his stone and save his time and money. The old lady seemed confused, and left the room, and thus ended the visit.

"Just some sort of implicative assumption."

Joseph Smith stated plainly and clearly that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri where he was at the time. He pointed out Adams Altar. Apparently some here believe he was lying, right bcspacedout?

I dunno. Can you find that in any doctrinal work? If you can, then I'll change my view to a doctrine supported by actual revelation.

Questions for you to answer:

1. Did Adam build his altar inside or outside the Garden?
2. If outside, how far away from the Garden? Adam had over 900 years to wander far and wide.
3. Did Joseph Smith specifically state that this is where the Garden was? Or did he just say that this is where the altar was built or that this is where he met with his posterity before he died?

What is the source of this quote? Because that's hilarious!
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

That's irrelevant.

She was speaking as a panhandler, not as a Latter Day Saint. And it wasn't doctrinal.
