This month's lesson: The faith of Lot's daughters
Good afternoon everyone,
Today, I would like to get away from the correlated material and talk about one of the most wonderful stories in the scriptures - the story of Lot and his daughters. Now, this story is misunderstood by many of the politically correct worldy people of today because of presentism. But, when studied with faith, it is one of the most marvelous stories in the scriptures. I dare say it is even more faith promoting than most of the Jesus stories in the New Testament.
You see, Lot lived in a wicked city called Sodom and the Lord warned him that Sodom and Gomorah would be destroyed. So Lot took his wife and daughters and fled, but his unfaithful wife looked back on Sodom and Gomorah and was turned into a pillar of salt.
So Lot and his two daughters hid in a cave, and there was nobody righteous to carry on the righteous seed. So his daughters knew there was only one way to carry on their fathers seed, but they knew their father would never agree to it, so they got him drunk, and then they took turns with him, and got pregnant by him.
What makes this story truly remarkable is how the daughters empowered themselves to do what needed to be done. They were ancient feminists, taking charge. Unlike today's atheist feminists, Lot's daughters did what the Lord would have wanted. They were faithful in every way. I'm sure they would've preferred not to have sex with their father, but they did what needed to be done to preserve his seed. I have this story marked in my scriptures, and we make it a point to study it during Family Home evening at least once a year. I challenge all to put aside your silly presentism bias against girls sleeping with their drunk fathers, and look at the true moral of this story. It is truly one of the greatest stories ever told from the scriptures.

Lot was an old inebriate who could go twice in one night, with his daughters, immediately after the demise of his wife and in the cold discomfort of a cave. What a man!

Lot's seed had the same level of importance as Joseph Smith seed: zero.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

A prophet of the Mormon Jesus (remember He is the God of the old testament).
The real miracle was for two girls to get themselves pregnant in one night from the same person with a dead battery.
Do date rape drugs work this way? Nah, I don't think so.
______________
No doubt, if there is a hell, Lot remains smoldering there for murdering his wife and raping his daughters.

Three counts of lazy research.....
Actually (without the JST), the daughters thought there was no one else left.
It was two nights in a row.
The JST has Genesis 19:31 as "And the firstborn dealt wickedly....."

Re: This month's lesson: The faith of Lot's daughters
I thought the whole "Lot got his daughters pregnant" story was merely a form of blood libel by Israelite writers against their mortal enemies, the Ammonites and the Moabites.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Re: This month's lesson: The faith of Lot's daughters
Having never experienced the presumed destruction of my entire species I do not presume to judge on this matter as I have no idea what rules I would break in order to survive or preserve the human species.
Can I paint a different picture. A man just watched his wife turn back to a city and die and everyone they knew except their sister and father die. There was nothing left for them. They fled to a small city but didn't feel safe and fled to a cave, perhaps expecting the end of humanity. There the three of them were, most likely expecting to die soon. Lot couldn't take it and drank himself into a stupor. The girls were probably emotional trainwrecks as well. I don't think what they did was right but I've never felt the despair they must have so I'm inclined to be gentle in judgment.
I love how the feminist brigade shows up to condemn Lot. As I read the story the two girls raped a drunk man. Where's the fiery indignation that would come if it was a drunk woman and she was raped by men?

The Bible is torture-porn.
I wonder if in 3000 years people will be watching Hostel and The Hills Have Eyes, turning to it for inspiration and models for behavior.

Did you type that with a straight face or are you batshiat insane? You know that episode of The X Files with that family who are a group of seriously inbred murderers? Yah, this is the outcome of what you would do to "preserve your species".
Let me get this straight. You finally get married, you have two daughters, you are the last believing Mormon family alive. God kills your wife for showing the least bit of apprehension toward leaving her home behind. You take off while your city burns to the ground and its COOL TO “F” YOUR DAUGHTERS?!
Dude, not cool. Not cool at all.
Can I paint a different picture.
Sure, but it will be a grossly distorted rationalization. Proceed.
A man just watched his wife turn back to a city and die and everyone they knew except their sister and father die.
Don't forget his earlier pimping of the daughters acting as proxy for angels when the traveling orgy paid a visit to Lots house, because if there is someone who can't possibly stop a violent cornholing, it must be angels of god (WTF?!).
There was nothing left for them. They fled to a small city but didn't feel safe and fled to a cave, perhaps expecting the end of humanity. There the three of them were, most likely expecting to die soon.
Blah blah blah...setting the stage for a bad interpretation utilizing the tried and true technique of "blame the victim", somehow also turning this into a jackbooted regression into ERA days.
Lot couldn't take it and drank himself into a stupor. The girls were probably emotional trainwrecks as well.
Yes, it was their fault...they werent the drunk ones so it makes sense that their emotional state would make them want to screw their father.
Maybe in the Droopy infested backwoods of West Virginia this thing happens all the time. I see your point if Lots daughters were of sexual age but quite frankly, they were likely not of marriageable age in that culture. I doubt they visited the red tent yet is what I am saying.
I don't think what they did was right but I've never felt the despair they must have so I'm inclined to be gentle in judgment.
When it comes time for my two daughters to have the "don't let strangers do bad things to you" discussion, I will remember this line and use it to instruct them on how controlling sexual predators manipulate their victims.
I love how the feminist brigade shows up to condemn Lot. As I read the story the two girls raped a drunk man. Where's the fiery indignation that would come if it was a drunk woman and she was raped by men?
You make me sick.

You mean Lot had a high chance of making retard babies too?
