Re: The teachings of the church backfired on me.

a good thing to do is read the writings of the early church fathers (not LDS) like Clement. Trace the early popes until about year 300. You will see that they wrote just about like peter and paul did. They wrote about faith and their belief that Jesus would return.

This is a very good question. You sound like you might be new here since you don't recognize Nehor. So how exactly does an honest person reconcile the issues within Mormonism and still remain a Mormon. I am sure most LDS are good honest people. They simply aren't looking for issues within their religion. When they are finally introduced to the issues, of course it causes problems for them. But they don't know who to turn to for help. Their friends and family will simply tell them it is satan that is making them feel conflicted inside. That doesn't help them. So how are they to be honest with themselves and still remain a good member of the church? The answer is... *drumroll* ...the apologists. The apologists here and at MA&D help members get answers to these troubling issues. Any apologist will tell you that there are no issues within Mormonism, just anti-mormon misrepresentations and lies.

Nehor,

You need to practice charity, you know, the pure love of Christ. I know it is a tough thing to do but try it out man.

I did practice charity, I left out the part about the door hitting you on the way out.

Yes, I am.

Yes, I do, though not so much that I'm arrogant enough to pit my honesty and integrity against that of an organization of millions.

I reconcile them because God explained to me how to. I also have some knowledge of God and trust him in these things.

If I thought it would help, I would lecture Nehor on being more charitable, rather than throwing out phrases such as "Bye", or "don't let the door hit you on the way out", etc.

Nehor, however, is young, and really isn't interested in learning anything, or changing his attitudes. Like most young people, he has it all figured out.

See, Liz knew where I was going.

I'm not really young. I just turned 30 today (physically), 25 (spiritually), 20 (mentally), and 10 (emotionally). A good day.

I'm also curious about this.
