I suppose my quandary lies in the fact that I wonder why those portions were ever a part of the temple ceremony to begin with? How could something that the Lord views as so important be presented in an incorrect manner? My questions here apply not only to the recent temple changes, but also to the prior incorporation of the Adam/God Theory.

I for one had no innate burning desire to bring the Lamanites to a remembrance of their fathers while living in their squalor and partaking of their diseases.

The ignorance of this statement is appalling. But I know enough about you to not bother with "shame on you". Shame is only possible for those with a modicum of humanity.

What exactly am i Uninformed on? What lack of information is leadking you to judge this as ignorant? What I wrote all seemed pretty accurate as far as I remember.

I work with Natives on two reservations. While there is some "squalor", it is not by any stretch of the imagination as rampant as to be the 100% your post implies. I've seen equal squalor or even worse in many white trash neighborhoods. And Hispanic neighborhoods. And African-American neighborhoods.

And any diseases they may have are the same diseases the general population suffers from... diabetes, cancer, heart disease, STD's, alcoholism, etc. Partaking of their "diseases" would only apply if you were disobedient to the rules of your mission.

(and the missionaries are the first to see it in these places too since it's the poorest and downtrodden that take up interest in the gospel)

And any diseases they may have are the same diseases the general population suffers from... diabetes, cancer, heart disease, STD's, alcoholism, etc. Partaking of their "diseases" would only apply if you were disobedient to the rules of your mission.

Like shaking hands with people with warts, getting shocked with high Voltage live wires not covrered properly in a shower unfit for human use, eating pig that could turn into brain worms and encephlitis. Thos were rules all right, the rules we were struggling to keep. Taking showers and finding out that you're they just didn't make a flip flop long enoiugh to protect you, so you're digging worms out of your foot with no more help than your companion to hold you down. A lifetime of diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome, Keeping the rules doesn't protect you from any of this. In fact, it asks that you accept these occurrences with honor and be joyful about it. I didn't see much joy in it, but I guess there are thos e who do, thougfh I don't understand why.

Yeah, missionaries in North America get to live in the other varous forms of squalor all over the world. It just amazes me that the mind control is so strong that you punish a mssionary by not letting him go through quite possible the two most painful years of life and that the others willcome back and are content just to be back on equal footing with him, or if anything not get a little upset when they're friend made some money while they were on the mission and now has the most beautiful girl around his finger before the others could even say hello.

Mosquitoes aren't always very objedient to what the Lord tells them and neither are flees. But if you get bit my enough of them to where you're groin and underarms are nothing but bites, you begin to try to reason with them. But they just couldn't understand that since we were being obedient they weren't supposed to bite us.

Yellow fever doesn't really care if it hits you if you were in your apartment by 10 or breaking the rules buying that extra pop. It just bites you both and you does you some serious damdage that you have to live with for the rest of your life.

Don't sink to intellecutual lows that say the only missionaries who get long term illnesses in latin america do so because they broke the rules. You're smarter than that Harmony. Guess what else, no matter what happens to you in the mission, if you're parents don't have you on their insurnace policy, you'll be lucky to see a doctor in the 3 months they give you after the mission ends. Beyond that you're on your own, and you can't buy insurance because it's all pre-existing. Competing for high ranking jobs to get the healthare you need to become a productive citizen again becomes a little difficult at that point. I'm not sure I could have beat some classmates with my full strength to get into a job with real inusrance. Wacked out with yellow fever, and it just ain't going to happen.

I wanted a quick death so bad. But life has continued to torture me years later without any sign of offering the relief of death. It's hard to fit into the LDS Churrch when you're mentally crippled. I know it's hard to understand, but when a bug gets in your brain and doesn't kill you, life can get really difficult and complicated.

I'm not blaming you Harmony for how things went down in my case. I just can't believe you would buy into the idea that keeping the rules, keeps young men safe on their missions. I don't have a hope or perfect faith this is true. I've seen this with my own two eyes. I think it's fair to say I konw its true, and I really didn't even have to pray about it.

and boards with permanent nail holes and chewed pieces of gum. No amount of repentance can apparently make them clean or whole again. They are stained forevermore by their association with a guy who kissed or screwed them.

How come the guys aren't held to the same standard? Too many of these 'young Priesthood holders' get girls pregnant and are not held accountable. Too many of them introduce these girls to sex and life experiences and the girls come out 'tarnished and trashed' but nothing happens to the little pollinating player. He gets off scott free while she is now a slut.

How about some payback and accountability for these oversexed little slobs?

This message board is now simply a zoo; a place from which one can safely observe exotic creatures as they cavort, play with there own feces, and sometimes throw some of it at the bemused onlookers.

Its long past time we should ask the clerk what his real agenda is here, but that rarely works with this type of sanctimonious anti-Mormon gasbag.

I heard rumors of these things being said at youth firesides. It's actually child abuse. If the child is already being emotionally abused inside the home this could send them over the deep end if they become sexually active with feelings of shame. Shame is poison. This is why so many of the guys I grew up with gave an "adoring history" when interviewed for BYU or a mission.

The Oprahtoids are among us. These pod people can be quite persistent.
