It's Ezias's word:

You might want to read Pg 1, GoodK.

Ezias wrote:The reason pot is illegal is becuase it has been proven effective to cure and treat so many illnesses such as cancer, pain, ms, arthritis, etc etc. Too many to list here. The phamaceutical companies can't patent it. It is evil and sickening really when you begin to understand the truth behind these things. Drug companies can't patent a plant, so they lobby to make the # 1 natural medicine known to man, less harmful than many foods we consume regularly, illegal.
I don't think so. I think you're confusing your conspiracies.
If I recall correctly, it was William Randolph Hearst's paper and newspaper companies (along with Dupont and the nascent petroleum/plastic industry), that pushed to make hemp illegal back in 1937, because they feared the competition. Hearst used his newspapers and films like the incredible "Reefer Madness" to propagandize against the plant.
I don't deny that cannabis could be beneficial medically; I think it's likely, actually. The real problem has been that the DEA has thrown up all kinds of roadblocks to any serious testing.
But I have little patience with those who claim that doctors and researchers are suppressing cures (and therefore killing people) to make more money. People who run these companies get cancer too, along with their family members.
Edit: I see you added a comment covering some of the same ground before I got this posted. Getting hemp banned was a real travesty for our industries, the economy and the environment.

Ezias wrote:No, last time I checked I had no breasts to begin with. I currently am not comfortable disclosing the kind of cancer I had and am currently undergoing treatment for. For one, it is not particularly relevant to this discussion, and two, I prefer as much anonymity as possible. It just gets to personal.
I'm sure you realize that men get breast cancer too. And I'm equally sure that you realize, after your extended period of study, that the treatment for pancreatic cancer (with a cure rate of about 3%) is substantially different than the treatment for breast cancer (with a cure rate of over 95%).
The reason I asked is because your quote mentioned breast and pancreatic cancer treatments. There's no reason to discuss any treatment that isn't directed toward the specific cancer... hence, my question about which was yours: pancreatic or breast. Since you're reluctan to share what your type is, I doubt I'll be interested in this conversation much longer.
By the way, just when are you going to let the Susan B Komen Foundation, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Association, and all the other cancer research groups know that the cure has been found? I'll be expecting a huge press conference this week.

Not to mention it helps combat stress, anxiety, depression, and leaves me with a general feeling of well being. It helps me cope with the mental effects of these trials. I don't use it while working or driving, just like with many medications, (opiates in particular) it is unwise to do so.
Ezias, that's great that you found something which benefits you.

Ezias wrote:Making a man an offender because of a word. So, because I used the word "cure" in a context where I should have used the word "treat, and possibly cure (some cases cures occured, but not all)" that destroys all my credibility and it is not worth the effort looking into the sources on the points I bring up. Wait, this tactic seems familiar...........are you a Mormon apologist?
If that is how you are going to dismiss my points I find that funny.
You are not required to follow this topic further. However, if you have a credible counter argument other than ad hominem then please enlighten us. Nitpicking my choice of verbage is not a credible counter argument.
Ezias, I'm trying very hard to not slam your argument, because it's very clear that you believe in it. But "offender for a word"? In my world, the word "cure" is closely guarded. We can't claim a "cure" unless we can actually prove... a cure. If you were just playing fast and loose with the word, fine... but in my world, that would be grounds for dismissing whatever point you were trying to make.
So... pot is not the cure for cancer. I'll make sure to cancel all my changing career plans. Thanks for letting me know.
