Jason,

What would you do is one of the finest young men of your ward came to you and his YM pres of bishop and said he was struggling with homosexual feelings. He is 16 going on 17. Sings, dances, is into theater, straight A kid, never done anything wrong in a big way, girls like him, he is handsome, speaks two foreign languages, etc.

What would you do? If he is active LDS in a staunch family he knows that if he acts on these feelings his life is going to EXPLODE! Do you think he is choosing this, that he just wants to be sinful?

I would tell the kid to get a new hobby. These "art" groups, such as theatre, are full of homosexuals. Theres plenty of other ways someone with those talents can express themselves without spending inordiante amounts of time with men who enjoy "expressing themselves".

Theres no way he "just started feeling this way". Something was introduced to him, something presented itself to him that told him this lifestyle was an option. He needs to change his enviorment and seperate himself from those who are influencing him.

Homosexuality is a choice. No one is born that way.

"Jason Bourne"

Jesus hated sin but loved the sinner. Do you Gaz? What does your church teach about loving the sinner. The LDS position on homosexuality is not to condemn them. They are welcome to be members of the Church. They are expected to obey the law of chastity like any other member. It is though quite a conundrum for an gay person to be LDS because they can never marry or have a physical intimate act with a person they are attracted to or love.

in my opinion it is an almost no win in the LDS Church for someone who truly is homosexual.

Hi Jason,
As a former? Bishop, what is the church's position on oral sex between husband and wife? Non procreative sex, only for pleasure to draw couples closer? I ask because if gay marriage becomes legal, how can the church still hold the position that homosexual oral sex is a sin/breaking the law of chastity? This could cause big problems in the way LDS view the morality of sexual intercourse between spouses and the more modern view of birth control in the church. I'm wondering if that's a fear the church has with legalizing it.......
If it's wrong for two married men to pleasure themselves sexually, then why is it moral for me to pleasure my husband the same way? Why is it moral for an infertile couple to marry and pleasure themselves sexually if they are not producing offspring?

Harmony,

I haven't seen the movie, so can only comment on a general concept:

1. no one deserves to be killed because of their sexual orientation.

2. no one deserves to be marginalized, ostracized, shunned, deprived of family love and support, or be discriminated against due to their sexual orientation.

And Gaz knows he's not in compliance with the gospel. He's just ranting.

I don't know if you remember a little story concerning Abraham and Lot. They lived near a set of cities that sodomized visitors and had a large population of Homosexuals and those who befriended them.

To this day you can still pick the sulpher mixed with magnezium from off the ground and ignite it with a match. Those places burned so hot it literally melted the buildings and turned the inhabitants to ash and salt.

Gaz,

I have questions.

If a gay person were in need of food, would you feed them?
If a gay person were grieving, would you comfort them?
If a gay person needed a friend, would you befriend them?

Satan,

Fortunately future apologists do not need to defend Gaz's statements. The apologists here aren't even defending him.

that's a forgivable sin

And this little story happened in which Testament? Old or New?

Surprise, surprise.....it happened in the Old Testament.

The people of the Old Testament were governed by the Law of Moses....the lower law.

In the New Testament, Christ came and fulfilled the law. It is that higher law that we abide by now.

There are two little stories in the New Testament you may want to re-read, Gaz.

One is the parable of the Prodigal's son.

The second is the story of Jesus writing in the sand....and him telling the adulteress to go and sin no more.

(Sorry, Gaz...I graduated from seminary, too. )

Liz,

No one lived under the law of Moses in Abrahams day.

Yes, to all of the above.

I taught two gay men on my mission. Both of them got baptised.

All gays can repent. The individual in the op was raised up with an understanding of the gospel and now teaches against all of the virtues he was raised up to believe and understand.
