Re: Utah biggest porn consumer
I was in Salt Lake city once and saw the epidemic first hand. Indigent folk were hanging out on the street corners, using cardboard signs to pander for money. It broke my heart. Whatever change you gave them you knew was going to be spent straight on porn. If pressed about his problem, a bum is likely to say he needs the money for alcohol or for intravenious drug use, rather than admit to the least fashionable addiction.
With Heroine, there are spent syringe barrels and visible tracks on a persons upper extremities, alcoholism has its giveaways as well. The subtle signs of the more damnable addiction are there, if one observes closely. This was laid bare for me as I was communting early one morning through the city. At a stop light, to my right I was able to make out a homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk in a cardboard box, with his hand tied to a fire hydrant. I swallowed hard, trying to choke back a tear.

It's all those gentiles and ex-members that are generating these numbers. And all those girls wearing those suggestive clothes, walking around as if they were porn advertisements.
Bleah. What we have here is a policy that causes a major unintended consequence, and the reason we have this policy is because we have a bunch of men who live in an insulated world with no real contact with the world the rest of the population lives in. Let us never forget that there are men behind that ignorant and backward moral system, men that supposedly talk with God often if not daily. Men who are trusted to lead appropriately, yet all of them are old, have little if any experience in the world of a 20- or 30- or 40-something single or married man today, and who, to a man, believe they know everything because they supposedly have God's ear. Well, we see how appropriately they lead on this. It's no wonder the church's policy doesn't work... (and the numbers are evidence of a failed policy)... maybe they should get the legislature to allow strip bars. At least then the money stays in the state.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

That's what makes the problem so interesting. What if the only way the Church could "win" the war on pornography was to just let it go?
Oh au contraire .. Bishops could show up at homes periodically and ask to examine the cookies and browsing histories of member’s home computers. Or perhaps computes should be brought in for examination during temple recommend interviews...
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

Just to be clear, Utah does have strip clubs, but the dancers must wear pasties.

QFT. A wicked person has altered something here:

The sad thing is that the falsification was not even necessary to achieve the effect desired:

Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

What is needed here is a new lesson added to the relief society manual. One that instructs mothers on how to access temporary internet files and review data. It could even come with a handout. A useful tool to be used on any random wire found internally in the computer.

And what if the lesson needs to be taught to her lord and husband? Are you advocating rebellion, if the father of the house is the perpetrator?
