In apologetics, all is permitted.

CJ Campbell isn't exactly the C.S. Lewis of Mormonism. But I have reason to believe he's an ex-pilot, and loved one thread he did about this. For once he seemed to know what he was talking about.

Right.
I've performed a number of anthropological studies of the apologists.
Uh huh.

I assume we'll be seeing these studies published soon in reputable peer-reviewed anthropological journals.

There is no argument so absurd that it cannot be used by critics, libertarians, vegans, Methodists, carpet layers, atheists, Democrats, flight attendants, politicians, sanitary engineers, rice farmers, lawyers, deep sea fishermen, drama teachers, pugilists, fundraisers, drug addicts, actors, surgeons, and cellists, either.

Yeah, that was poorly worded. What John should have said was something like, "Surprise, surprise... yet another absurd argument from an apologist. Don't they have any decent arguments, just to mix it up a bit?"
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Is is not equally possible that the rates of decay and cooling were much slower in the past, and that these rates have been speeding up exponentially? Perhaps because of the atonement?
Another tact might be to say that the Devil placed those rates of decay and cooling, where it would be discovered, to fool those weak in faith.

I think I can start by presenting this as a serious critique of an apologist's project.

I agree. But I noticed what you didn't list: Anthropologists, geologists, historians, mathematicians, physicists, etc. Unlike carpet layers and flight attendants, apologetics tries to wear the clock of scientific explanation, and tries to tell us things about the fundamental nature of the universe. Apologetics pretends to be a method at arriving at useful conclusions. In comparison, drug addicts seek only to take drugs and fundraisers are after funds. My point is simple, apologetics has no rules and everything goes. Although one item on your list, sanitation engineers, comes pretty close.

carpet layers, deep sea fishermen and cellists wrote:In 1982, Dr. Barry Setterfield, an Australian astronomer, made an amazing discovery that he first presented at the 1983 National Creation Conference. Dr. Setterfield tabulated all the measurements of the speed of light since 1675. The computer-generated curve showed that the speed of light was slowing at an exponential rate. Extrapolating back to 4082 BC, the approximate time of creation of the earth, the speed of light was 107 – 1011 times its present velocity.

In view of Dr, Setterfield's discovery, the earth is not 12 – 20 billion years old, but only about 6,000 years old.
