Harmony,

And what if the lesson needs to be taught to her lord and husband? Are you advocating rebellion, if the father of the house is the perpetrator?

If the husband is the guilty party, then two things will occur:

1) He will accompany the wife to get the new computer of her choosing to replace the smut ridden filth that needed to be hacked up.

2) All wifely duties including cooking, cleaning and coitus will cease for an undetermined amount of time.

If the man throws a fit and acts like the pig he has only hinted at, a recommended treatment of super glueing his hand to his penis in his sleep will preceed divorce proceedings. If he likes playing with his penis so much, then he should be welded to it the way he promised to be welded to you in the temple.

So you advocate blackmail?

That's called assault, Gaz. She would go to jail and he would still be able to go to the temple.

Your right. Forget the glue. We'll just call it a horrific Roomba incident.

Coitus is a "wifely duty" in your mind? Right up there with cleaning and cooking?

OMG, that is just plain sick Gaz.

Your poor wife.

Evidence the LDS church has some serious problems.

the thing is, he's right about the coitus, but wrong about the cooking and cleaning. We covenant to have sex with only our partner, but we don't covenant to cook or clean.

And his sentence isn't evidence about the church; his sentence is evidence about Gaz. He's just a product of his culture and society in general. I can't even find a smidgeon of pity for his wife though; if she hasn't set him straight by now, she never will.

Hi Harmony,

Are you talking about the "receiving", "accepting" idea in the sealing ceremony?

Yeah, I had a conversation with a stk. pres. coun. about this once. He agreed with Gaz, sex is a duty for women.

SICK.

I can't think of anything that would destroy the pleasure of sex more than to think it was a duty. Seriously, it turns sex into, well something along the lines of cleaning toilets. ICK. No fun at all. In fact it, to me approaches rape in the sense a woman is being sexually used. Don't like the idea.

And his sentence isn't evidence about the church; his sentence is evidence about Gaz.

To me, the fact that some LDS men take LDS teachings as does Gaz, (and others who believe similarly), demonstrates that there is a problem with either the teachings or the way the church is teaching. Thankfully every guy doesn't agree with Gaz, still he is not alone in his interpretations.

The brethren, in my opinion need to realize there some men like Gaz (and my former BIL and a bunch of guys on the MAD board...smile), who are fanatical or extremists and need to be taught in a way that doesn't lead to such ideas.

I can't even find a smidgeon of pity for his wife though; if she hasn't set him straight by now, she never will.

Perhaps she also believes it is her duty to clean, cook, and be used for sex. I feel sorry for any woman who thinks this way. Reminds me of the FLDS girls and women.

No, I was thinking of the Law of Chastity part of the endowment.

Yeah, I had a conversation with a stk. pres. coun. about this once. He agreed with Gaz, sex is a duty for women.

The Law of Chastity only states that one spouse will have sex with only the other spouse, not that either is a duty. I'm pretty sure my hubby has never figured out that sex is a duty. I'd know if he'd come up with that little gem.

SICK.

Ever read about sex in the aristocracy of Victorian England?

Not all women view sex the same way you do, TD. For some women, it's a chore, a pain, certainly not fun. Remember the thread I started about the lousy skills of LDS men of my ward, based on the comments made by their wives? The problem may stem from the man's lack of skill, but it's also possible that the women simply aren't interested.

It's only a problem if the majority of men think that way. And I don't think they do. Jason is a prime example of a LDS man who doesn't think that way.

The brethren, in my opinion need to realize there some men like Gaz (and my former BIL and a bunch of guys on the MAD board...smile), who are fanatical or extremists and need to be taught in a way that doesn't lead to such ideas.

The Brethren teach men to respect their wives at least twice a year in conference and virtually every Sunday in quorum meetings. (I can't believe I'm defending the Brethren... someone check the news... has Armageddon started today?) It's extremists like Gaz that aren't listening, not that the Brethren aren't trying to teach correct principles.

Of course, it's entirely possible that Gaz was just fantasizing, and his wife has him firmly in control.

Yeah Harmony I know but the idea that a woman has a duty to have sex just really stinks.

I don't like the idea of a woman having to have sex if she doesn't want to or doesn't like it out of duty.

It is one thing for a woman to have sex, even if she doesn't like it because she loves her husband and wants to make him happy. Totally another thing if she is letting herself be used out of duty.

It would feel very dehumanizing to me.
