Opinions are welcome here. Breaking the rules is not.

What?
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

I didn't see anything in particular that Moniker said that occurred in pm's or chat. Since the posts are now gone I don't remember details but in general I believe her posts were about dehumization of individuals. I don't believe I would have done what you guys have.

I noticed a lot of fighting going on amongst 2 of them. One got banned. However she lived in the same city as I and I happened to have an extra ticket to see a show this artist was going to perform at. So I met her and got to know her quite well. With talking to her and my observations of the board (though I appreciated this before talking with her) I learned that the artist was playing mind games with the fans, but I didn't appreciate just how much with her. She was his first fan and was very devoted. He was manipulating her and another one to fight over him on the board, because he enjoyed manipulating them. I talked to him in pm, not as himself but to one of his sock puppets which I was certain was him and I asked why he did that. He replied "every good artist manipulates their audience, they make them cry they make them laugh, that is if they are any good as an artist" and "why does a sheep dog herd sheep?". Once he caught on that I had caught on and that I met this girl he wanted me banned, which he did, he was moderator though I don't think fans knew. He as a female moderator sock puppet told the fans I realized why I was banned. He allowed the other girl back, that was always part of his plan. Well I informed him that his actions had caused her much hardship. That his game playing had caused her to go into a depression and lose her job. Unbenownest to him she was on medication I believe for bipolar depression. She couldn't understand why he had banned her and why he had told the other girl lies, to have the other girl turn on her. For him it was just a game for her it was real life and devastating. She didn't go into work for a week and lost her job. She wasn't making much to begin with.

Do you really, truly, honestly believe that that's what happened here?

Do I think you've been playing sock puppets to manipulate people? No.

Do I think the banning unnecessary? Yes. I didn't see Moniker discussing particulars which I why I said to her I don't understand her. She talked in general terms which may have been to convey a message to others who do know particulars.

Do I think it might be devastating to Moniker to ban her and it have extreme negative ramifications? Yes, I do. Many people treat message boards seriously, they get to know people and it can become an important part of their lives.

I don't know all the issues, Moniker's state of mental health, what happened to upset her. But the appearance seems to me that she's being silenced, not solely for her own good, in fact I don't think that's the prime motivation at all.

I know that things said in confidence should not be shared publically, though from what I gather that has happened against her. I know that people can infer something may have been said that never was or intended in order to smear someone. But I didn't see Moniker say anything in this thread to warrant permanent banning, actually not even temporary banning. I didn't see her smear anyone, except for her suggestion Harmony was spoilsport but since spoilsport's post isn't on the board and I doubt many people read it, I didn't then it doesn't mean much. By the time she had said that she was angry from being banned

I think if she had been ignored in this thread by mods, she may have vented a little in her own way and it helped her. As it is now I believe for her things are worse.

I think it's best to talk things out than to shut people up. Shutting people up makes them more upset, and it becomes much more difficult to let go.

Let us be clear: this is not a therapy board, Shades is not a therapist, and in no shape or form should anyone expect anything therapeutic from this board. Period. Ever.

Moniker was banned for repeatedly, incessantly, knowingly, and deliberately breaking the rules, specifically Rule #3. That's all you need to know.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I echo harmony 100%.

marg, if this thread had been the only part of the Moniker saga, then you'd have a very, VERY valid point. The problem, however, is that this thread is only one very, very small drop in the bucket.

No, you don't.

Appearances can be deceiving.
