The Brethren teach men to respect their wives at least twice a year in conference and virtually every Sunday in quorum meetings. (I can't believe I'm defending the Brethren... someone check the news... has Armageddon started today?) It's extremists like Gaz that aren't listening, not that the Brethren aren't trying to teach correct principles.

Well, maybe it is that Gaz is not listening or maybe it is that Gaz really believes he is interpreting the message as God wants him to?

I had a BIL who believes like Gaz (and BC), and feels his views are Godly. He believes he is right in line with the teachings of the Brethren. He could justify any sort of emotional abuse with talks from the Brethren, even though most of us would suggest he was misinterpreting them.

I think the Brethren are trying to care about women (in their own way) but are really missing the root of the problem, hence we have folks like Gaz, BC, my BIL, and many, many men who still don't get it.

Maybe more men in your Ward need to be addicted to pornography? We apes and monkeys tend to mimic what we see. Perhaps if the women didn't feel bad about viewing pornography they could steer some of their husbands in the right direction?

For example, my lady views more pornography than I do. It doesn't really interest me too much, but she enjoys it. So, we watched some the other night, and as a result she learned a new thing and our thing was great afterward. Perhaps you should consder watching some pornography yourself? It might be helpful. :)

Mrs. Gaz is quite happy in all regards. There is plenty of loving, honoring and cherishing that flows both ways in our relationship, as it should.

Not all women view sex the same way you do, TD. For some women, it's a chore, a pain, certainly not fun. Remember the thread I started about the lousy skills of LDS men of my ward, based on the comments made by their wives? The problem may stem from the man's lack of skill, but it's also possible that the women simply aren't interested.

I believe that guys like Gaz have some kind of warped view in their mind that they are somehow rescuing their woman from the "oldest profession". They view themselves as some kind of hero.

But these Gaz guys aren't smart enough to realize that they really just reduced their woman to being a member of the "oldest profession" by paying them. Sure they are monogamous and loyal unlike the "oldest profession" and are probably not paid with money but they are reduced to earning the right to have sex by ironing and cooking.

The woman doesn't need any pleasure, in their view, because they are paid for it by the honor of ironing and cooking. Thus these so called men don't need to "learn" how to pleasure a women, only themselves. After all they rescued the poor damsel from the sin of sex as a prostitute. They are only still masturbating emotionally but doing it physically inside a women and that solves the masturbation problem with the church. The woman for sex just becomes an object to them and their sexual desires the same as if they paid for it on South 2nd.
