I think his name is Tom. Not positive though. The last two episodes have really redeemed this season for me. I'm really interested in the next one because of the "temple ceremony controversy". I also want Teenie to bring back some of those Playpen magazines. And I want Don to get lost on the Indian reservations permanently. His hair hurts me.

PS: Are you watching Eastbound and Down? It's fetching* hilarious.

I think you're right. Yeah next week should be good, or at least controversial. I agree Don should be hog tied...Bill needs a new and more savvy business partner. Possibly a woman who is willing to get naked (I'm tired of the no Nudity.) ;)

It's Ted Price played by Patrick Fabian.

Whats a little nekked gonna hurt? The Mormys will stop watching the show?
God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

Thanks. I found out his name was Ted last night on a rewatch.

Thanks TAK.

So much for my narcotic-addled memory. Tom, Ted, what's the difference but 2 letters out of 3? I was 33% correct. Not quite epic fail, but close.

Ehh.. I had to look it up but only because I watched last night and thought it was Ted.. the Price part is funny to me as I had a Price as a Stake Pres.

So...the big temple scene. I thought it was tastefully done. It was only a few minutes long. Some tokens and dialogue exchanged at the veil. Some time spent in the celestial room. I think the writers and actors did a good job presenting it accurately. I was not offended, though I am a shameful apostate, so that's not saying much. If TBM's are to be offended by this episode, they should be upset with the Court of Love segment. That's the part that makes the LDS church look bad.

Here is the link where you can watch the temple scene.
http://www.dailymotion.com/deliciousfee ... o/14583859

I was very surprised they didn't show any of the pre 1990 penalties or any of the sexist Patriarchal language and covenants made during the endowment, becoming Gods, loyalty to the Prophets and church, and the fear instilled into members if they break these covenants. This is integral to polygamy. Why did they leave that out? Very strange....All that hype and outrage for that???

It was depicted far better than I had experienced going through. The beautiful piece of music (Barber's Adagio for Strings) actually made it feel spiritual and not cultish or kooky. Mormons should be writing HBO a thank you letter for not showing any of the disturbing parts of the temple that shock and trouble most members who go through for the first time.

I'm interested to hear how non Mormons view it.

I should think those of them not automatically disposed to mock anything solemn or religious will react something like this:

1. These people are clearly doing something that they feel is very sacred, and the program-makers have depicted it as respectfully as anyone could reasonably ask.

2. So that's what Mormons get up to in the temple!
(a) It looks very strange and unlike anything I have seen or heard of from any other religion.
(b) Are these people Christians? All these handshakes, passwords and aprons look like a kind of Masonry.

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Wow. Watching that temple scene is almost overwhelming. It's been years since I've participated in temple ordinances, but it seems like only yesterday. I can remember the signs and tokens clearly. The added music during the temple scene definitely adds to the "spirituality" of the event.

The youtube video of Big Love's temple episode is already circulating Facebook. So far today, I've three messages from never-Mormon friends, all expressing shocked disbelief that I willingly and frequently participated in something so overtly cultish and odd. I'm not sure how to answer them, or even if I'm going to.

So Saturday, our Bishop and his wife invite us to go to the Temple with them. We can't make it, but I told them that it's OK "we were planning on catching it on HBO Sunday anyway". Pause....big laugh.
