The return of Blixa (anonymous, cogent and accompanied by a succession of delightful avatars) should be ample compensation for those currently laboring under a sense of loss.

Seconded! Blixa is lovely. I've long enjoyed her posts, here and yonder.

Chap, also anonymous, cogent and with delightful avatar (finally!), your posts are always among those I read first.

I think all of us, no matter where on the spectrum, can appreciate Mister Scratch's comments here, even the apologists. Take a step back for a moment and consider that just because BYU won a lot of football games with Steve Young as QB, God directing the course of events, doesn't mean that the teams that lost were all made up of horrible people nor necessarily did they do a bad job. It just happened to be the Lord's will that BYU win. And clearly, BYU players and fans alike celebrated the victories. Clearly, it was the Lord's will in this matter that Mister Scratch win, and I think we're obligated to understand his desire to celebrate. I also think it says a lot about his character that rather than just taking all the credit for himself, he gives back to the people, and the community he felt helped him achieve this victory. You're an example to us all, Mister Scratch.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I never, ever allow myself to forget that a message board, no matter how well-conceived or well-executed, is quite literally nothing without its contributors. If MormonDiscussions.com is a useful place, then it's nearly all due to the input of its participants.

Thanks to the two of you, and everyone reading this, for making this place what it is.

No, thank you, Dr. Shades. It seems that, all too often, the self-reflexive MDB comments are negative in tenor. There is a contingency of posters who seem to find fault with all manner of things pertaining to the board. Frankly, I had grown weary of such negativity, and I felt that a bit of celebration was in order. It all fine and dandy to celebrate birthdays, Godhood, and other in real life achievements, of course, but once in a while, it's surely nice to praise MDB itself. Without MDB, the public praising of these other things just wouldn't be happening---at least not in the same way.

Yeah... this place is cool. I like it.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

How right you are. There seems to be an undercurrent, a silent compulsion among some people to participate in and enjoy the board while at the same time being absolutely sure to remind everyone that this board is beneath them.

I agree, and I thank you very much for saying so.

Scratch
I am extremely proud of the way that this board dealt with DCP recently

Good! Take it to the Bank, revel in it! I feel like I'm in MAD&b talking to Gordittos & Clones.
We, degenerates knew from getgo DCP's cause was a lost one, we were certain of this fact much more than our partners fidelity to us.
Knowing this fact, you & clones went for the kill. In actuality it wasn't a worthwhile kill, it was a barebottom safari hunt. Too bad you did not use patience on handing the rope to him inch by inch to hang himself, as you were doing nicely thus far.
This is not a Superbowl type of victory you can revel in it; DCP was much more valuable being on this board than giving him no options but quit, (It doesn't require much brain power to figure this out).
I agree with Jason's sentiments hundred percent.
The way I look DCP's exodus is that, you, Scratch, actually lost it.

I will add my thanks to Dr. Shades for creating the most fair minded LDS board on the net.
~td~

I totally share this sentiment. Dr. Shades proved me wrong so far.
So much so that seemingly this board had a very positive influence
on RFM, they are not gung ho about butchering posts as before.
For the obvious reason this is the best Board of it's kind.

I had heard another version of events. DCP summed up his recent time on this board as follows on MADB:

I just departed another board where I've wasted far, far too many hours defending myself against idiotic false accusations from people determined to portray me as a potentially violent, scheming, slanderous, racist, vicious, lying religious bigot, etc., no matter what I say. Utterly pointless.)

Now I'm confused. What actually happened here?
Oh yes, books disturb people. . . Guy Montag.

Daniel got tired of defending himself.

And God bless all of you. I hope that the Lord will continue to guide me in my doings. I hope the Lord will continue to influence the work of my dearly beloved "informants." I pray that one day, the apologists will realize the errors of their ways.

I say these things, humbly, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
