I respectfully disagree. It's when he says he's going to post the cure for cancer, but instead he explains he's too busy to do it, isn't interested in sharing it, is working on it and will post his cure on another more worthy forum, insults everyone that takes umbrage with his lack of forthrightness, makes critical threads about Mormonism about himself (every single time), obfuscates, ad homs, red herrings... On and on...
I'm sorry some of you feel the sting of his loss, but I don't reeeeeally see what he added outside of an entertainment value. Is that what you miss?
I really don't care if he posts here or not. He was just phoning it in--on both boards. I don't like the endless personal attacks against him, they were juvenile and just feed his distorted world view.

I tried to ignore the guy as much as possible but he'd jump into threads I was in, and totally unprovoked by me would write nasty remarks. He did that here, he did that in my brief time on the old MAD board. He literally followed me around the board, just to write sarcastic comments. He clearly is not all that nice an individual. And of course there's that evidence that he takes it upon himself to interfere in people's private lives totally uncalled for, all because he thinks he's doing it for the good of the church.
So while may have received personal attacks on this board, I generally didn't follow his posts or those who posted to him, in my opinion he likely deserved it.
That was my sense of things when I read Dude had been banned. I suspect DCP has something to do with it. It's a way for him to lash back at those who also post here.

I don't think he named Dude, but I think he made it clear in personal communications with mods there that he disliked this board, the way he was treated, and as he mentioned in a post, catering to certain critics does nothing to help their cause.
If he can contact a parent in order to tattletale on a poster here, I wouldn't put it past him to attempt to manipulate mods to increase their harrassment of certain critics. My impression of DCP which is based on my dealings with him as well as observations of things he's said and done, is that he is a rather petty minded, even spiteful individual at times.

Yeah, forgot about them. Joseph Smith Mill has always been one of my favorites.
While I'm honored that quality posters such as you two put me on that list, I was banned from there as well. I can't really complain about my banning, though: I gave my roommate free reign to post something offensive, and he juxtaposed a picture of Hitler with one of Joseph Smith.
I let my roommate get me banned because I've been pretty busy at work, and didn't want to waste time on a board where the playing field is so far from level. Now that The Dude is gone as well, I hope this portends a flight of the more knowledgeable critics from that board. I say, let them sequester themselves into an incestuous echo chamber. They're losing the cultural battle, and by circling the wagons and marginalizing themselves from the broader culture, they're only accelerating that loss.

Interesting. My interactions with him lead me to the exact opposite conclusion about the man. And my interactions go beyond this board to personal discussion via email and real life encounters.
