You're right, I'd say it's impossible to be able to remain on the board once the mods decide they want you gone. I don't remember reading anything by you that was offensive or broke rules--but apparently you bugged some with your very presence. I think with some (such as Cinepro), they just don't like your "tone". It's one aspect of the MADB board the posters have little or no control over.

Oh, there is no question. In fact, I feel bad for him a little bit. On his very own board where he's idolized as some kind of God, as one who is rightfully taking his place as one of the most learned men in the history of the world, he posts a topic announcing Richard LLoyd Anderson's apologetic address last friday. And what happened? The topic immediately degenerates for quite some time into a discussion about TiVo and the final episode of Battlestar Galactica. This is a double insult to DCP, because those who know him, like us, know that his esteemed and cultured self is greatly unimpressed by things like TV shows. Had a critic derailed the thread this way, it would have just been insulting because they'd be derailing in a calculated way to annoy him. It's doubly insulting though, since the rambunctious junior apologists probably thought they were joking around, apologist to apologist, in complete ignorance.

Had he posted that thread here, at minumum, he'd have found himself in a discussion about the "interesting coincidence" between the general topic of Anderson's address and DCP's recent fireside, and what appears to be a viral marketing campaign on the verge of happening where Mormon apologists tranlsate Joseph Smith apologetics into the kind of apologetics EVs are using for JC. Sure, he'd have sweated bullets, but look at the alternative?

Sorry Dude, you're doomed to be hated there. The problem is, you not only win your arguments, but the apologists can't use the 2nd to last ditch tactic of appealing to some authority in FARMS on the issue since so far, you appear to outrank academically anyone who tries to challenge you on evolution/Lamanite DNA issues. And if this weren't bad enough, you really sealed your fate by (rightfully) laughing their psuedoscience out of court. Because of this, they probably hate you worse than anyone, including Scratch, who I think would only get banned sooner due to PR reasons. The only way you could have been hated more is if you'd have added the claim that you're an active member in good standing instead of an apostate.

your only hope to redeem yourself I'm afraid, would be to pretend their arguments have serious merit and say things somewhere publically like, "although I ultimately disagree, I find YYY's argument compelling, and YYY to be the toughest of opponents, a fierce intellect, and certainly, no one can take him or his work on the Book of Mormon lightly. Those who do so, do at their own peril."

This would seem to lend even further credence to the "Mopologist Monolith" theory, which, as LoaP helpfully points out in your sig, has "some merit." I wonder if they had a meeting at the MI in order to chart out this "viral campaign,": e.g., "Well, what should we do next? Should we try to prove that it's reasonable to believe in the Atonement?" "Yes, Dr., that sounds like an excellent idea. I shall approach it from this angle, and you begin drawing up your notes. Don't forget to charge for admission when you deliver your fireside in Arizona. We need the funds."

Although I ultimately disagree, I find Zakuska's argument compelling, and Zakuska to be the toughest of opponents, a fierce intellect, and certainly, no one can take him or his work on the Book of Mormon lightly...

I can't do it! Sorry.

In the old days I could say such things about a few apologists, but today's MADB denizens do not approach the "fierce intellects" of yore.

I was expected to live up to board expectations (almost) single handedly while Zakuska does Wikipedia rip-offs, Smac97 starts an "interesting thread" with nothing more than a link in the OP, and ttribe and nofear trade off as board nannies for a short busload of evangelicals. Woopee!

You were banned because you won too often.

For at least one of the mods, it's always the wrong time of the month, it seems.

It could be as you suggest that a formal meeting at the MI took place. This could also be the result of a several "private" phone calls, where questions are raised and suggestions brought forward. Where the subject is taken "offline" and fleshed out in dark corners or behind closed office doors.

I think it's too late to stop now and all we can do is watch. I think the project will reach critical mass within the year.

At least it's got something to do with Christ. Most of the apologists spend the majority of their time with Joseph, or Book of Abraham, or KEP, or other stuff that doesn't really matter, in the long run, because none of that has any power to save or exalt. It's all just windowdressing.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
