The Sixth Sense and the Future of the World

Post by _truth dancer »

Anyone else a fan of TED?

This eight minute presentation from the MIT Media Lab's new Fluid Interfaces Group, is out of this world!

The HG is nothing compared to this!

OMG, the future is going to be SOOOO different! Lots of fun ahead!

Man, that's awesome.

Can you imagine how difficult that will make it for LDS missionary work going forward? As soon as the missionary walks up, an image of Joe Smith humping your wife would flash on his chest and it's already game over before it's begun.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Are me and Schmo the only ones who think this is incredible?

I hate TED. It makes me feel like an unaccomplished dope.

Yeah but John, if we had the sixth sense we could be as smart as all those folk at TED!

I'm waiting for the brain and memory implants... they are a ways out but we could all have the sixth sense in a decade! I can't wait!

Who/what the Hell is TED?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Dr Shades... you need to click on the link!

TED is the coolest thing in the world! I'm totally addicted! I watch these videos while on the treadmill or working out... LOVE THEM! I can't get enough.

From WIKI:
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an annual conference that defines its mission as "ideas worth spreading". The lectures, also called TED Talks, cover a broad set of topics including science, arts and design, politics, education, culture, business, global issues, technology and development, and entertainment.

Just pick a topic and your brain gets a wild ride!

The link in the OP is one of the very coolest I have come across... I'm serious when I compared it to the HG! Sort of! (smile)

My dream is to attend the conference. Someday!

OMG.

I'm not much on futurists who think they can predict 20 years out, but this stuff will be here SOON. It is inevitable when you see what it can do.

I'm not certain about the potentials and therefore not as enthralled as you are TD. I think it's neat that one can project images onto any surface to get a video, a watch, a calculator, but I don't think that would ever replace a real watch, calculator or video off a good screen. It might be like when the microwave came out, everyone thought how it would replace conventional cooking and it turned out to be basically good for thawing and reheating foods. The ipod now does not much of what it does...accessing information on the go. I guess I'm just not a visionary and don't see all the great stuff it will do. I think it might even be detrimental in that it could be a source for information and decision making, but not like the web now, it could be programmed to only supply particular information. Yikes.. maybe a religious group like the Mormons could make it mandatory that all Mormons wear one, and it could be sold as a guiding device, programmed to inform them who they can talk with, what they can and can't read etc. ..to be worn at all times.
