Perhaps, but have you ever wondered if Mr. Scratch was really Doctor Peterson and that together they had an unquenchable need to keep taking red and blue pills at intervals where they could communicate with each other via the forums?

Thank you for the welcome, harmony and Californiakid.

I find it so touching that MAD has gone after my academic credentials given the fact that I wrote the first edition of my book The Mormon MIrage -- which stayed in print for 20 years and was used as a textbook in several universities-- before I got an undergraduate degree.

I'm just saying.

As you've experienced, MAD goes after anyone who thinks differently from the standard. That you wrote about it is even worse.

What subject was your book used as a textbook for?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Mormon Mirage was used in the 80's at Harding University in religion classes. Sorry, I don't know which particular class but could probably drag out the letter from the prof if needed. (sigh.) And it was used at Trinity Southwest University (when it was affiliated with Trinity (Newburgh Indiana) long before I even knew each of those entities existed.

And I have files of letters from individuals who used it in other classes, but I don't think it was a text but rather supplementary reading in those cases. Take a look at the reviews of my books on my site (almost all of which were written by people I've never met) that reflect how my books on Mormonism and cults have been used.

I guess on that subject I'll let others speak for me if anyone's interested.

Meanwhile, thanks for the cordiality here. It's refreshing.

Hi, there, Dave. Good to see you around.

I wonder, though: Do you feel the same way about Tvedtnes claiming that he authored "over 300 articles" in a context that is clearly meant to lead the reader to believe that he's talking about academic articles? When, in fact, a good chunk of those "articles" consist of things like SHIELDS spoofs, and scripture quizzes?

Hello My Friend MS,

Clearly I don't view John Tvedtnes who holds an MA in Linguistics with a minor in Arabic and a second MA in Middle East studies in Hebrew with a minor in anthropology, and who has performed extensive graduate work at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (studying Egyptian and Semitic languages) in the same way I perceive a person who holds a degree from a non-accredited conservative theological program.

I don't know how many total articles John has authored, but I can state that Tvedtnes has written more works of substance on the Book of Mormon than any other individual in history.

best.

Well, I've read a couple apologetic pieces by T and I thought they were pretty crappy.

And you say we don't have much in common anymore, ;)
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Awww... see, I still read all your posts looking for that connection.

Well then, Dave, you are avoiding the issue. You told Latayne that you disapproved of people who "misrepresent" their accomplishments. Well, Tvedtnes claimed to have authored "300 articles," when, in fact, he was counting spoofs and scripture quizzes among the number.

And he's written some things that I too disagree with, but that hardly negates the validity of his entire work.
