Re: Ethics Scenario
I'm curious how much Goodk is making from his website and from submitting 'gulag' stories to other venues. I recall him once coming here incensed that someone altered his story to increase website traffic and in there it was clear he was being paid for it.

I wouldn't know.
My state usually requires a form. A police report.
No, it doesn't, crock. Stop bs-ing your way through these exchanges. It reflects poorly on you.

You should find out. That would be damning.

Only if you are milking it for money and not actually pursuing serious legal action. More so if you're planning a book and/or videos to sensationalize it.

Umm. Yes it does. I have seen them with my own eyes and I have followed police investigations. I represent private schools where these complaints are made against teachers.
Why isn't it important to your ridiculing exchange with me to know whether Mr. Articulate made a complaint to the hotline?
You raised the point. Amazing that you accept his absurd story with nothing but his own blog say-so and the contributions of anonymous informants.

what are you saying - it takes a police report to send out a social worker to investigate child abuse?
I want to fly!

Here's the way it works in California.
A call is made to the police. The police are the first responders. They always complete a police report if they think there is a colorable claim of a crime. The complainant must sign a witness statement if competent. The police then "refer" the matter to DPS. DPS will send a social worker to the family later. Could be that day, but it usually days to weeks later.
A complaint can be made directly to DPS. I know; I've done it. When I did it, DPS with me on the line then calls the cops and transfers me to the cops. The cops then go out to investigate and prepare a police report and DPS gets involved.
Theoretically, a complaint can be made to DPS and they can decide it doesn't warrant a call to the cops -- very very unlikely if child abuse is alleged. Most likely this occurs in cases where there is neglect. DPS comes out days later, if at all. These days, DPS rarely comes out due to budget issues except in a crisis.
Although I have never been involved in making an anonymous complaint, I don't think the police or DPS would respond to blogs. They hardly respond to press accounts. I don't know how they respond to emails, but I do know that law enforcement in the normal criminal context does not respond to emails in cases I'm familiar with. I'm working with the FBI on a current matter and their special agents give me their emails on my promise that I don't give it to anybody else, so I'm assuming they just don't do a lot with email.

That's gibberish.
