Alethos anesti!
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

Don't hold back the tears while you play/sing those hymns, and also listen to humble Mormons bearing testimony. Bawl your eyes out with emotion, Will. It might possibly be the only time you experience some humanity.
Don't worry, Ray. I'm a pro. I save the tears for after I'm done playing, humanity or no.
by the way, I find your sig. line noteworthy, and I also casually note that when "Wheat" posted here he had exactly the same colouring as you do. Curiously, his expressions are exactly like yours, too.
And if it weren't for the fact that he and I live 2000 miles apart, we could be conjoined twins.
But if it suits your purposes to lump us together, feel free.
But maybe I'll leave that, and more on Elders Ballard/Ashton for another thread (here). I have a new theory about Internet/Chapel Mormons, which I think will may be even more succinct than Dr. Shades', though from a different angle. I think this one has a far more solid footing.
I'm sure it's a watershed moment waiting to happen.
I'm also very keen to know what Elder Ballard thinks of some Mormon commentary on the Internet. I guess one way to find out is to get straight from the horse's mouth.
I would think you might find the other end more suited to your talents.
For now, the road calls.
And, for me, a soft pillow.
Happy Easter to all. And to all a good night.

Easter is my favorite holiday. There's always a bunch of candy on sale the next day!

I see. Everything you post here and on MAD is "play". You like to hurt people's feelings as part of your "play". Silly me, I should have guessed.
William Schryver wrote:And if it weren't for the fact that he and I live 2000 miles apart, we could be conjoined twins.
You know, you could be right. I would probably be totally wasting my time if I sent Ballard a sampling of what goes on on the Internet. He'd probably shrug it off or justify it. I don't know what flight of imagination ever made me think otherwise. Perhaps it was the idea that some Mormon GAs are actually Christlike.
But you got me beaten there, Will. It's sort of like asking Herman Goring to write a critical biography of Adolf Hitler.
William Schryver wrote:But if it suits your purposes to lump us together, feel free.
It doesn't suit me, but your statement on this one has a ring of truth, or maybe it's just my experience.
William Schryver wrote:I would think you might find the other end more suited to your talents.
Well at least I never tried to coax married women into my bed, don't believe in 2,000 year old men still roaming the earth, left over from a civilisation that never existed, and didn't teach young teenage girls that "happiness if the purpose and design of our existence". What comes out of a horse's butt is pure gospel doctrine compared to some of the things horny old Joe taught.
You've finally done it, Will. You've convinced me that I have been wasting time trying to find that mutual understanding with Mormons. It's clear, thanks to you, Will, that there really are only two choices - be with the Church, or fight it. There is no middle ground. I'm actually grateful that you've helped me to make this decision, because I think I've really have been kidding myself with too many benign [read: deluded] feelings of wanting to get along with Mormons, for far too long.

Re: Easter Greeting
Ray:
I have long been convinced of this reality.
Take heed, however, and do not enter rashly into this course of action, especially when you are still – just barely – in a position to reverse your course one last time.
As I warned you (in all seriousness and sincerity) in my post to you on the MAD board, should you choose to go “whole hog” down the road of apostate opposition, you will almost immediately incur the wrath of an offended God in your life.
In that post, I wrote concerning the words of the Lord to apostates who choose the road you are now contemplating for yourself:
I then invited you to change your course in life:
Consider this a vain and false prophecy, if you will, and then dismiss it with a scornful laugh. But you will not escape its consequences. If you choose to further grieve the Spirit of the Lord; to increase your persecution of the Saints, and thereby fight against God, you will feel His hand upon you to a degree you have never before experienced, and in ways you never could have imagined. These words I have spoken to you will come to your remembrance, and you will have cause to weep and wail, and gnash your teeth for having been so willfully blind as to make yourself an enemy to the Almighty.
You may mock me and my words to your heart’s delight, but you cannot mock God without consequence. And it just so happens that, as utterly impossible as it may seem to you in this moment, I believe I am speaking to you in His behalf, and with a sincere regard for the welfare of your eternal soul.
I am convinced that you are a good man who has become enmeshed in a cycle of self-loathing and self-destruction. In your heart of hearts, you know the truth but you have become so angry and frustrated by the setbacks of your life and the great losses you have suffered on account of your own foolishness, that you have lost the capacity to see clearly and act accordingly.
But there is still time and opportunity for the atonement of Christ to heal you, if only you will give Him one last chance to save you from yourself.
In all sincerity, I implore you: Don’t be a fool, Ray! Turn back before it is forever too late. And, no matter what else you do, heed the words of the angel to Alma:
Don’t blow your last chance.

Cursed are all those that shall lift up the heel against mine anointed, saith the Lord, and cry they have sinned when they have not sinned before me, saith the Lord, but have done that which was meet in mine eyes, and which I commanded them.
But those who cry transgression do it because they are the servants of sin, and are the children of disobedience themselves.
… they shall be severed from the ordinances of mine house.
Their basket shall not be full, their houses and their barns shall perish, and they themselves shall be despised by those that flattered them.
They shall not have right to the priesthood, nor their posterity after them from generation to generation.
It had been better for them that a millstone had been hanged about their necks, and they drowned in the depth of the sea.
I then invited you to change your course in life:
Ray, I hereby invite you to repent of your sins and come unto Christ. Cease your attacks against the restored gospel. Cease your misguided criticisms born of the darkening of your mind in consequence of your pride. Cease to associate and find common cause with those who have made themselves enemies of the restored gospel. Cease to find fault with the prophets and apostles, living and dead, through whom the Lord has spoken, does now speak, and will continue to speak until Christ returns to assume His throne upon the earth.
If you do not do these things, then I must warn you that you will shortly feel the wrath of God in your life; you will become subject to the cursings pronounced by the Lord in the passage I have quoted above.

Don’t blow your last chance.

Oh my god. The Gookie Cookie Monster is talking a like a Book of Mormon character. This is just too good...
Hey hey... Do me too! I want the condemnayshunz.
-----------------
Today we boiled and painted eggs. We had an egg hunt. We ate Deviled eggs after. Then we went bowling, and then to the park. Then I came home and ate some cake, and napped to the sounds of the Masters being narrated on CBS. Now I'm surfing the 'net. I'll eat again in a minute or two. Then, when it gets dark, I'm going to set off about $200 worth of fireworks.
Not one mention of Jesus Christ today. :D
Life. Is. Good.

Holy moly wow oh wow!
This on the day that is dedicated to observing the Grace and Mercy of the mighty Redeemer of the world from one who claims to follow Him?
Well Will seems to worship a different Christ than I do.
Ray, I am sure you are not worried but if you even thought about it don't. Will's self appointed over lording over you is hollow and perhaps this condemnation may return upon His head from the One who says Judge not that you be not Judged, forgive to be forgiven and blessed are the merciful and the meek.
It is not his place to heap such a condemnation on you and he may need to understand with the judgment he judges he will also be judged.
