As a MAD bannee myself, I'm aware of the fine line critics must walk. Current posters I consider worth a damn are beastie, Metcalfe, Chris Smith, Mike Reed, Mortal Man, and, of course, that handsome young turk John Larsen. These folks (more often than not) can keep up with the gang-ups and can do it with substance and without losing their cool. I'm sure there's a few more that I'm embarrassing myself by not mentioning, but MAD seems to be more interested in keeping the Christian critics around for ridiculous Bible bashing while banning the more substantive secular fellas.
That's how it appears to this ol boy anyhow.

It is quite clear that they love the Christian critics, because that is what they have loaded the gun for...and they are not as comfortable dealing with the secular critics. The secularists and agnostics change the rules of the game and have upset a delicate balance that has been fostered by FAIR and FARMS for years. They are in way over their head when the engage science and there are many, such as the dude that can just run circles around them--they also tend to employee as the literalists and fundees try to jump on young earth and global flood--positions that FARMS has tried to back away from.

I'm surprised to find there are even that many unbelievers over there. Where are they all? They're certainly not posting. And only a handful of the ones that do actually turn out anything worth a damn.
The unbelievers are also separated into secular unbelievers and religious unbelievers. They tend to post in different threads, which is why the ratio feels more like 4:1 than the 2:1 that the poll numbers suggest.

Good point. Since I tend to ignore silly crap like debates about the trinity or grace vs works, I am probably not seeing a lot of the 'criticism' that exists on that board.

Let me give an open Kudos to BCSpace, who has publicly praised MDB and MDB's moderation both here and on MAD, and has managed to not get banned from MAD in the process.
As much as I disagree with BC, he is a good foil, and I'm glad he chooses to post here.

Oddly, I browsed through Brackite's last 20 or 30 posts, and there isn't any indication of why he was banned. There was a post that was edited by a mod for an improper link, but nothing else. Was your offending post totally deleted?
