You can have as many as you like, Personage. :)

I'm trying to chose three but I'm having trouble narrowing it down. There's just so much good music to choose from.

And yes, Karl61, Karen Carpenter had the voice of an angel.

A very, very skinny angel.

That would be Forest Lawn.

Here are two of my favorites. Great love songs.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Roberta Flack

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

The first time ever I lay with you
I felt the earth move in my hand
I thought our joy would fill the earth
And last 'till the end of time, my love,
And last 'till the end of time.

Stardust by Frank Sinatra

And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart

You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain

Yong Xi,
You are right about Stardust. I've always loved that song. I prefer the Nat "King" Cole version though.

For the record, the only thing keeping me from submitting "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is the Taupin lyric,

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny black toad

Just what the hell is that supposed to mean?

It's "hunting the horny-back toad".

I think it means he's going back home to the country, where there are old owls in the woods. And, he's going to hunt horny-back toads, too, something I did as a young country girl. :)

I don't think there are many horny-back toads left around, but my daughters manage to find other kinds of frogs to put in jars.

Also, I love "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." It was the number one song the day I was born, so I like to pretend it was written for me.

Roberta Flack's timing is sublime. I don't know that there's a song with better phrasing.

I've thought about this for weeks and it's been weighing on me. It's very tough to narrow it down to even three songs.
I'm not a musician so don't feel qualified to nominate anything but here is one I think would be loved universally.
It's perfect for a montage/slide show through the years.

Remember When by Alan Jackson

Remember when I was young so were you
time stood still love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
made love and then you cried
Remember when
Remember when we vowed the vows walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died new were born
life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Remember when
Remember when
