Re: The Church's "Internal Espionage System".
Ray, a few years back on the FAIR board there was thread about how many Internet sites the LDS church monitors... If I recall correctly, it was thousands.
Its been a while but from what I remember, some people at BYU or the More Good Foundation (can't remember the connection) admitted that the church does indeed monitor sites but after it was quoted on the FAIR board the article was removed.
Anyone else recall this?
Speaking of the MGF... anyone know who runs this? Who is on the committee? Who does the fundraising etc?

Yes.
Mister Scratch quoted a story in the online edition of the Daily Universe (I believe) about the More Good Foundation. The BYU professor who was being interviewed said, in passing, "The church monitors over 1,500 anti-Mormon websites . . . "
I immediately jumped on it and said, "Did you all see that? Here's proof that the church really does monitor the web!" The next business day, the "1,500 anti-Mormon websites" quote was removed without a trace.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Which tells me they monitor this site as well.
Hi Bro SCMC! *waves*
(we know the monitors are men because of course only priesthood holders would be able to carry this burden).
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I remember reading that as well. I just regret that someone didn't have the presence of mind to do one of those "webshot" things, or whatever you call it.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I remember being a little unnerved the first time the moregood foundation hit my old blog. The church office building also used to show up a couple of times a week. In the end, nothing happened, probably because my blog was pretty benign.
My new blog never gets hits from either the COB or the foundation, so I'm not concerned.

I left the Church a few years ago already. For the moment, I am satisfied with being agnostic.
Best to you.
You too.

And I also need to become much more interesting--or at least have more interesting things to say.

I am living proof that just because you write a blog, it doesn't mean you have interesting things to say.

Untrue John.
I've laughed three times since you started it.
