Finally Got my free Magic the Gathering Cards

Post by _asbestosman »

I thought Dr. Shades might be interested to know that my free decks of Magic the Gathering Plainswalker cards finally arrived in the mail. I got blue and white. My brother got white and red.

It's been a while since I've played, but I used to play frequently when I was in high school. My favorite back then was usually a mix of green and red although I've been known to like decks with white or black support. I never did well with blue, but then I never had the super-awesome blue cards like some of my friends (one had a doppleganger). I sold those cards for pennies before heading off on my mission because I wasn't playing much and I started thinking it was a waste of time and money. Now I wish I just kept on to the cards I had for game night.

Wow, someone finally got theirs, eh?

I'm still waiting on mine.

Me, my favorite colors are Black and Green, but right now I'm playing a top-tier Blue and Black deck.

If you need cards for game night, most hobby stores will have loose commons for somewhere between 5 and 10 cents each.

I always found Black to be a little risky what with all those cards that seem to hurt me for casting them. To mix Black with Blue was unfathomable for me. I bow to your Magic deck. My problem with Blue is that I could never get enough support to take good advantage of Blue's power.

So what are your favorite Black and Blue cards in your deck anyhow if you don't mind telling?

I might have to take a look. I usually like a few less common cards just to mix things up a bit, but I don't want to spend what I used to on cards either. I'll have to stop by a hobby shop next time I'm at the mall.

Don't bow too low; it was a net-deck (if you can't beat 'em, join 'em).

So what are your favorite Black and Blue cards in your deck anyhow if you don't mind telling?

Rather than just pointing out one or two cards, why don't I just post the whole decklist?

LANDS (25)
2x Faerie Conclave
5x Island
4x Mutavault
4x Secluded Glen
4x Sunken Ruins
2x Swamp
4x Underground River

CREATURES (16)
4x Mistbind Clique
4x Scion of Oona
2x Sower of Temptation
4x Spellstutter Sprite
2x Vendilion Clique

SPELLS (19)
4x Bitterblossom
3x Broken Ambitions
4x Cryptic Command
1x Jace Beleren
3x Terror
4x Thoughtseize

SIDEBOARD (15)
4x Agony Warp
2x Peppersmoke
1x Ponder
4x Remove Soul
2x Sower of Temptation
1x Terror
1x Vendilion Clique

I usually like a few less common cards just to mix things up a bit, but I don't want to spend what I used to on cards either. I'll have to stop by a hobby shop next time I'm at the mall.

If that's the case, then most places sell uncommons somewhere between 25 and 50 cents each.

I played Magic when I was 14 and stuff. I was very early on that bandwagon with gives me some ultranerd cred.

I sold my collection for a pretty penny a few years back. Moxes ftw!

You got at least $300.00 out of each one of them, right? 'Cause that's what they're worth.

Hey asbestosman,

I finally got my decks last week, too. I got the monogreen Elf deck and the monored Goblin deck. Cool, eh?

I'm jealous. Red and green are my favorites. Any notable cards? I still need to examine my decks a bit more closely to see what's uncommon and what's fun. I'm a bit disappointed with my common 6/6 Sea Monster since it can't attack unless the defending player has an Island. I am, however, pleased with my 1/6 Wall of air, my persuasion enchantment (to control a target creature). With white I'm happy with Seera's Embrace (+2/+2 enchant + flying + vigilance), Soaring Hope (grant creature flying or put it back in library later for 1 white mana), and Armored Ascension (+1/+1 enchantmen for each plains +flying).
