Recent MesoAmerican horse finds:

From C. Ray, Pre-Columbian Horses from Yucatan, The Journal of Mammalogy, Vol 38, No 2, p. 278 (1957, I believe; I have the entire article but not the face page of the volume):

How in hell does 1957 become a recent find?

"Recent"?

For any lurkers, the OP is an example of the tactics some apologists use to try to help doubting members hold onto the church.

They throw stuff out there, knowing it is totally irrelevant and completely discounted by modern research, laughable to experts, hoping someone will read it, not realize it is totally silliness, then relieve some doubts or questions.

It is an old, tiresome, and deceptive ploy.

In reality, I think this sort of thing supports the idea that the Book of Mormon is of Nineteenth century origin; it shows that years ago people, as crazy as it is, actually thought there were horses during Book of Mormon times in Mesoamerica.

Reminds me of lawyers who throw out stuff in trial they want the jury to hear but know it will be struck from the record.

I don't think bob even had the idea that this post would bolster anyone's belief. Bob was obviously trying to provoke me into attacking his intelligence. He quite deliberately chose extremely old, outdated sources and labeled them "new". He deliberately chose references that are easy to discredit. He did this because he wanted me to call him "stupid", or some variation of the insult. It's what would be called "entrapment" in legalese, except it was such a pathetic and obvious ploy that it didn't work.

Bob, face reality. You were able to provoke me one time. It won't happen again. Save your breath.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
