Re: Missing Papyrus
No, he didn't claim credit for it himself, but he didn't menton Ashment once (leading us to belive it was someone at BYU) and he pretended he had not seen ANY evidence for the dictation model, when in fact we had been force feedng it to him for weeks, just prior to his presentation.
Ashment discovered this 8 years ago, and Hauglid sad it was "recently" discovered, as if he and the BYU guys just figured it out within the past few months or so.

You're lying again. I am watching the film YOU EDITED you moron, and he makes no mention of Ashment and instead tries to imply that it was discovered by those at BYU.
ROTFLMFAO!!!
EPIC FAIL.

Sounds like Hauglid got caught cramming for his exam. Someone else fed him this information. He did not have the details, but parroted the line fed him, which was put in the vaguest terms because the truth was rather embarrassing.

Holy hell, guess what I just found. Part two of the Hauglid presentation, and the first flippn thing he says is.... "We have figured out in recent months"!!! And yet Will says he always gives credit to Ashment. Watch it yourself, right here:

Yes, Will filmed this presentation.
So I guess I stand corrected. Hauglid really DID try to take credit for this.

Oh my gosh. I wasn't aware that an epic fail could become even more epic.
Who knew?

Re: Missing Papyrus
Get ready to watch Will explain to us how the "We" in Hauglid's statement, included Ashment.
Watch part one of the presentation. I got a kick out of the fact that Hauglid alludes to statements I had made in the forum. He essentally allowed my criticisms to shape his presentation, and yet Will says I've always been irrelevant. I'm also fairly certain that my efforts had persuaded FAIR and BYU to finally engage the KEP issue. And of course, I was the one who had to explain to Will what the KEP were. Without me and my apostasy, Will would still have that "deer in the headlights" look whenever someone said "KEP."

Ouch!
So, it is possible:
1) that they "re-discovered" something that had already been discovered, which would suggest that they failed to do their book research;
2) that they don't acknowledge Ashment's work as the discovery, even though he came to the conclusion first;
3) or, that they simply decided to take credit for something Ashment did and show their contempt for him by failing to acknowledge his contribution in any way.
4) I am sure there could be many other reasons, but the most generous is that they neglected to give credit to Ashment, but did so unmaliciously. Still, a pretty big oversight, and unfortunate that they appear to be taking credit for another's discovery.

Re: Missing Papyrus
I think #3 is the closest to the truth. They clearly tried to take credit for it. I guess they are sick and tired of having been corrected by Metcalfe and Ashment, that they felt an apologetics conference wasn't the best place to do it, yet again.
For a group that has to put so much stock into their authority as "scholars," it seems kinda embarrassing to have a non-scholar constantly proving you wrong. Metcalfe has corrected both Rhodes and Gee, and Ashment has corrected both Nibley and Jesse. So they avoid mentioning these thinge whenever they can.

If you are right, then it says very little for the state of their integrity.

Integrity?
Hell you have seen nothing until you see just how low Gee can go.
