One more little point, (not trying to derail the thread... smile), but would anyone (aside from those who personally know Bob), know the photo was of Bob if he had not announced it to the board? I had no idea who it was nor cared, actually.

td, of all the people on this board, even *I* knew it was Bob.

I do NOT like the idea of posting photos of board members or their family and friends and am not trying to justify this in any way.

I agree.

Having said this, one has to wonder why Bob clearly wanted the board to know the avatar was photo was of him and his wife. I find it odd that Bob would announce it as he did, if he was so concerned the photo was posted.

td, maybe he wanted it publicly known what Eric had done and that he objected to it. Remember the Itchy Blog and Z trolls? People publicly objected to them as well.

While Eric may have wanted to irritate Bob, certainly Bob was tattling to taunt Eric. If Bob cared at all that the photo was on the board he would not have announced it as he did.

I disagree. I think that Bob wanted the community to know what Eric had done.

NOT that it is appropriate to share photos or private information of board members and their families.

Agreed.

Just my two cents!

Mine, too. :-)

Here's another scenario.

Ray recently posted a thread in Old Testament where folks could post their photos. He posted his own photo and a photo of at least one of his children. He later deleted them.

In that case, Ray had the choice to post and then delete. He had control over the photos.

Unlike, Ray, crock had no control over the photo that was used in the avatar. He did not voluntarily post the photo on this board. Control was taken away from him by another poster who somehow managed to transfer it from a Facebook to this board. I don't really know how that's done.

This goes back to the "what is fair game" issue, I think. I don't think the family members of posters are fair game unless the related poster wishes to voluntarily post whatever photographic images they have in their possession.

Someone mentioned a scenario where a photographic image contained the posters image and that of a friend. I've seen photos posted on these boards from "meet up" situations where faces were "blurred". I think that the photo of the poster and a friend could be treated in the same way.

It has to do with discretion and what constitutes fair play.

My take so far. I haven't read a post that convinces me otherwise.

Comparative scenario.

If people here believe that it's okay to pull a photographic image from a posters Facebook that contains the image of a non-poster then...

is it likewise okay that Eric posted an email here about a non-poster and another poster dragged it off into email?

Where is the line here?

You mean like how Bob constantly talks about my little sister on this board?

Do you know that she actually came across his comments on another forum he has been stalking me at - on her own - and responded to him?
Told him he didn't know anything about our family and to shut up?

Bob brought all this on himself. That slime-ball is now dealing with the horns. And rest assured there is much more discomfort coming his way.

Some of you people, liz especially, must be f*****g kidding.

Why did no one challenge this or call for documentation? A link? Something?

I did. He never provided it. It doesn't exist.

But, really, let's move on. I thought he was fun and entertaining; an easy foil.

You come through loud and clear. Nothing wrong with using the images of family members who do not consent to the use of their images. That is your position.

I read your pre-edit post, crock. Something really fishy is going on, that's for sure.
