I feel so silly. For a minute there, I actually thought the MADerators would put a bit of red font on Billy Boy's "Sunstone = Neo-Nazi" ridiculousness -- maybe with a little note reminding him that there are no exceptions to the board's rules and making clear to other posters that this is exactly the sort of rhetoric prohibited by their policy on Godwin's Law. I knew, of course, that there would be no suspension or anything even in the neighborhood, but, embarrassed as I am to admit it, I really and truly thought
someone would say
something.
Dwight Frye, you can be a real silly-head sometimes.
ETA: Just when I thought all hope was gone, Hermes came through, after all:
Hermes wrote:parenthetically, Bill, we do discourage using the anti-semetic parallel, anything close to comparisons with Nazis etc. generally is frowned upon no matter if its similar. Thanks!~hermes the great and omnipotent messenger
I will forgive the timidity with which Hermes gently reminded Wild Bill of this, perhaps the most important and strictly enforced of all the MADhouse rules -- at least he said
something. (After reading and finding strength in my post here, no doubt.)
