If you want to play in the polemical big leagues, you’ve simply got to 1) become a more astute observer of human nature; 2) sense and be ready to spring upon every irony that presents itself without hesitation and without fear; and 3) you’ve got to have a talent for it.

From what I can tell, you’re better suited to technical writing.

I know, what was I thinking? How could I ever ascend to the rhetorical heights of William Schryver, master of the witty riposte, whose clever use of the double-entendre is unrivaled? Gee, if only I had a more finely tuned sense of humor, like yours.

Yeah, maybe I should stick to tech writing, as it involves reason, logic, and accuracy. Haven't seen any of that from you lately.

He did go overboard. But something triggered his outburst.

Well, why me, as I posted earlier, this is not the first time that Prof. Hamblin has shown his true colors in this fashion. He posted an extraordinarily disgusting rant on RfM some years ago, rather similarly to this new round of anti-semitism on the aptly named MADboard. So, I'm wondering: what do you think "triggered" the "outburst"? Do you think it was because posters had accurately and correctly identified the "Butthead" incident as the thing that led to Hamblin's hatred for Sunstone?

I think that the key to your post are the words some years ago. An occasional outburst is understandable and forgiveable. But constant abusive language is more problematic. I think that bill has his own reasons for not liking sunstone. He could be a political reaction or a moral reaction. Or it could be something personal from his past with the organization. He would need to come here and clarify it. But if he did that the critics on this board would be all over him and not very pleasantly I might add.

I think that William is having a good time here. Over at MAD, he just may be a bit calmer. I would just go with the punches and meet his punches with kindness. That should do it.

Yes, that much is obvious. William is about as nuanced as a sledgehammer. I'm just having fun back at him, though apparently I'm not in the same league as he is.

Some are born to greatness; others have it thrust upon them.

Yeah, maybe I should stick to tech writing …

And some are destined to trudge through their meaningless lives never once having tasted its glorious majesty.

I get an uneasy queasy feeling whenever you say"thrust", William.

Geez.

Well, you're satisfactory as a scrimmage partner, but only if I tie one hand behind my back and put on a blindfold.

I have a testimony that Will Schyrver is not a bad person, so it really doesn't matter how implausible it seems to you or how poorly you think it accords with the evidence. You're biased, anyway.

I bear my testimony that Will Schryver is not a bad person. He's just dumb as all get out.

I say these things in the name of cheese and rice, amen.

That seems your general approach to apologetics: blind and half-baked.
