Richard, the "left" is no monolith. Obama at least claims to be a Christian. Christians tend to be against gay marriage. He might actually be sincere, or might be attempting to sort of play both sides for political reasons. Who knows?

But it's a fact that a majority of blacks in the last California election voted Democrat - and voted for Prop 8.

So, Left != pro-gay marriage.

Even though I support gay marriage, I don't understand what the big deal is about this girl. She was asked for her opinion and she responded with her opinion. Now they are threatening to take her crown away because they don't like her opinion. Her opinion on gay marriage is no different than any of the presidential candidates during the last election.

Yeah, I was not very happy with the leaking of the semi-nude photos of her in a blatant attempt at payback because someone was unhappy with her views. That was pretty bogus.

I'm not sure what you mean. I tolerate people who are against gay marriage every day. They're wrong, but they have the right to their opinions. In what sense are you using the word intolerable? If you're asking whether I believe someone's being against gay marriage is serious enough to me that I'm willing to break laws hitting out at them, or challenge the integrity of our republic, then no.

I find it interesting that the Left is attacking this woman, but has not attacked Obama for saying the same thing last year. Do they think that Obama was lying (a pretty safe assumption for BHO).

The understanding is that Obama was compelled to say stupid crap in order to get elected. Miss California was under no such compulsion.

But I'm with Sethbag on this one. She's entitled to her opinion, no matter how stupid it is.

Most black churches are conservative on family issues. Remember also the pride Italian Americans took in the nomination of Scalia to the Supreme Court. Ethnic pride frequently takes priority over everything else (and blacks prior to 08 already voted overwhelming Democratic).
