Exhibit A of your illiteracy. If you can't tell the difference between the idea you have paraphrased and torture, then you have no business pretending to engage in an intelligent discussion of the issue.

Then I must be quite literate on the issue because I do understand the analog quite well. Better that than a knee-jerk unthinking reaction.

There is nothing so sad as a person who is too stupid to know when he is just plain wrong. I wish you the best in improving your skills. Until then, please try not to damage too badly the cause you pretend to support. Your conservatism has all the sophistication of a commercial slogan. You're probably a Dittohead. Buckley, where are you when we need you?

Of course now you've derailed your own thread. I was perfectly willing to discuss why you are wrong and why my assessment is correct, but you've degenerated into name calling and invective.

I don't need to discuss why you are wrong. If it makes you feel any better to leave it this way, then I am all for it.

Does your erudition extend only as far as CNN and NPR?

I read a wide variety of websites. Even if I didn't, though, CNN and NPR are actually reputable news organizations, unlike the conspiracy theorist haven that you get your Kool-Aid from.

If you actually have some philosophically substantive and logically coherent argument against waterboarding, why don't you state it, as opposed to the snarky stalling for time and bandwidth that is your modus operandi on most threads?

Droopy, do you have a philosophically substantive and logically coherent argument in favor of waterboarding? If so, what is it? Furthermore, what philosophical training to you have to condescend to Kishkumen?

1. I have an adult lifetime of reading, reflection, and study of philosophical subjects, including at university. I've seen nothing in a single one of Kishkumen's posts - ever - that would indicate the slightest philosophical temperament or serious critical thinking ability.

Indeed, he is, like Scratch, primarily a polemicist and intellectual rabble rouser.

Does anyone here want a philosophical argument for waterboarding, or other forms of interrogation? Very well, I'll state a basic case in a new thread.

We'll begin the derailments as soon as the post is up, I'm sure, but I'll make the attempt nonetheless.

Let's see where this goes.
