Frankly, this sort of remark is uncalled for. Trevor has done nothing that should affect your personal estimate of him.

He can leave the board but he just can't leave it alone, or something like that?

CK,

LoaP is just reflecting what DCP says. When DCP was being lighthearted over the matter earlier in the thread and saying he didn't care about it, LoaP was taking it in a stride too. Then when DCP became very upset over the fact that Trevor, who he thought was one in his pocket (I know this feeling as I have in the past also been "one of the more intelligent ones" per DCP when I took the apologists' side on things) reacted far differently than expected, he began a moralistic crusade that LoaP is now following with unwavering seriousness.

Prediction: If DCP let's it go, LoaP will let it go. If DCP continues to drag it out, LoaP will be right there, fielding questions in his stead.

I'm content that Gadianton has now effectively admitted that he's been lying about this, rather humorlessly and without any particular cleverness, for the past several months. As LOAP has said, people should keep this performance of his in mind whenever they read anything from him in the future.

Trevor:

LOAP has answered your questions the same way I would have answered them. Feel free, though, if you ever care to, to drop me a note at daniel_peterson@BYU.edu. I'd be happy to discuss these and other matters with you, but, as you perhaps also do, feel that there are debilitating problems with this particular venue.

What selfish end would that be, Gad? Jersey Girl really has no dog in this fight. She is a good friend of mine...period.

The only thing that Jersey Girl and I share in common as far as this whole little ruse goes, is that we actually believed you were telling the truth when you started talking about presenting at Claremont months ago.

Sorry...I didn't connect it with the whole Cassius satire. My running gag about my male harem in the Goddess Suite of Shady Acres is a little less subtle.

At any rate, life is too short to feel victimized, particularly over something like this.

(shrugs). Whatever your real profession is, I wish you well.

Wow! This thread has really taken quite a dramatic turn. I appreciate Trevor's level-headedness in all of this, and I denounce the unreasonable treatment he has received from DCP and LoaP. Despite my sometimes vigorous disagreements with "The Trev-meister," he is at base a good guy, and he doesn't deserve the treatment he has received from LoaP, DCP, and Jersey Girl. I also believe Dr. Robbers when he states that there was no "spoof."

That said, supposing there *was* a "spoof" of some kind, I find it remarkable how the apologists have reacted, claiming that this is "not funny," etc. They boast about how their senses of humor are so "great" and "witty" and whatnot, but the reality is that they really are a very grim and humorless lot. It is easy enough to picture DCP and LoaP grinding their teeth and scowling at their computer screens with a smoldering sense of moral indignation. "How dare anyone satirize us!"[/i] Barely two seconds ago, DCP was claiming, rather akin to G. Novak, that he was "laughing at" the critics.

I think all of this is kind of telling in terms of the apologists' "sense of humor." I mean, has anyone noticed how often the apologists feel the need to say, "I'm laughing at you"? I have said it before and I will say it again: I think that the Mopologists are angry at the thought that they might be the objects of satire, parody, and perhaps ridicule. And I think the behavior of LoaP/DCP on this thread is solid evidence of that.

I appreciate all of the kind words, but I think it best that I bow out of this conversation now. Sticking around is really not helping anyone, least of all me.

For the record, Gad, I still thing Trevor is a great guy. My limited interactions with him (mostly because I have been harassing and stalking him) have been really nice; he's a thoughtful guy, I like him a lot. I do think, however, Gad's lying to board members isn't particularly funny myself, so to see him saying he's laughing about it was a small disappointment.

Still waiting for a simple answer to that one question.

Don't know about LOAP, but, speaking personally, my grim humorlessness is the stuff of legend.

And how can it be otherwise, since I spend my days and nights in a state of perpetual rage, seeking vengeance for all the humiliations and injustices I've suffered since my earliest childhood?

Finally, I would imagine that Trevor has a pretty accurate idea of just how much I hate, loathe, and despise him.

Good grief, Scratch. Get help.
