Truman Madsen Dies.
Re: Truman Madsen Dies.
The Deseret News finally got the story (possibly through Scott Lloyd, who was unaware of it)

God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

You have the ability to read thoughts??

Ironically silly posters, Truman Madsen (sadly) isn't alive, and Scott Lloyd couldn't have provided the DN with a story he wasn't aware of.

Scott came on the board and saw the thread started by C.I. At this time the Deseret News did not have the story. Scott asked C.I. if he had more information, but must have gathered his own later. The Deseret News story broke about two hours after Scott left the thread.
Of course I could be wrong, but Scott is a Deseret News journalist.
Here is what Scott wrote on that thread:
Do you have any official source for this, C.I.? (I'm looking for something we can quote in an on-line news story.)
So I assume he was the one who broke the story.

Re: Truman Madsen Dies.

Truman Madsen was a hero of mine. He has a permanenet position on my ipod, and I listen to him often on my way to and from work. Someone mentioned once that he had a voice similar to William Shatner, but along with that went a witness of the Spirit that accompanied his testimony with power and a rare strength.
I discovered his Joseph Smith lecture series a few years ago and listened to them over and over again. He had an incredible speaking ability and he backed that up with an in depth knowledge earned through years of research alongside fellow historians at BYU including Hugh Nibley.
For those of you who are interested he released a series of DVD's entitled "On Sacred Ground" where he goes to all of the famous Church history sites from The Sacred Grove to Carthage and Nauvoo lecturing on what happened there. A great companion to those who enjoyed the Joseph Smith lectures.
I for one will miss this mans voice and insight a great deal. I look forward to meeting him in the world to come, if for no other reason than to shake his hand and thank him for all the times he bolstered my testimony with his own.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. - Plato
