Apostasy

Post by _Gadianton Plumber »

Well, after about two months of waiting, I received my official notice from the BP that I am now an apostate. It feels about the same, if you were wondering.

(I know that no one really cares, but it feels good to say at any rate. If you wish you could get the minute or so of your life back you wasted from reading this post, too bad. You've already been here for a while on the board, stop trying to blame it on me!)

 That picture is hilarious.

Why do you care what they think of you? I didn't resign, I just stopped going.

Why succumb to "gods bureaucracy" when giving them the silent treatment is more effective?

I'm not calling you out, just wondering why it is so important to resign...if that is what you did.

I suppose I resigned because it felt right. I don't think I could really justify it in a logical way, it just felt like the thing to do. Now, does that mean I care what they think of me? Yes, I think it does. I could have just gone inactive and stopped calling myself a Mormon. I wanted them to know I rejected them. After a life of being in, I think I wanted the rest of my life being out, not merely existing in the shadows. I think people who lose their testimonies have to choose a path, some stay in the church as NOMs, some go inactive, some reject the church in their hearts, others need paperwork to make it official. My brother (who is gay and RITC, he never resigned) for what it's worth, I don't think there was anything magic about the letter, or resigning. The magic was never there.

What does "RITC" stand for? "Rolling in the cash?"
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I regretted ever since wasting my time on a worthless, stupid resignation letter.
I absolutely don't believe they stop counting you out of their membership rolls.

This has been one thing I get really pissed off about. Going to a home teaching appointment, the wife opens the door and the husband is in the background yelling insults at me, because I'm probably the 3rd or 4th home teacher to come around since they sent a letter to the bishop asking for their name to be removed. I hate being put on the spot like that.

Anyway, that being said, I believe these things have more to do with a lazy bureaucratic system than any malicious intentions to keep people on the records. Usually, I'm pretty forceful about letting the bishop know these things if they happen to me, so the poor slob that comes after me doesn't piss off someone and continue to make the church look bad in these cases. The last guy I visited and this happened, the case I previously mentioned, sounded like he wanted to kick my butt. Right now, it's just words, but what about the poor slob that comes after me and gets this guy on a really bad day?

I'm sorry that you left, but we all have to choose our own paths. I wish you the best.

Actually, it took me about 30 minutes to get the CHI and read through the exit process, ten to read a little about how others have gone about resigning, and twenty to write and mail the letter. One hour total. I spend more than that looking at lolcatz.

BITC, shades.

Look at GP's answer;
I wanted them to know I rejected them. After a life of being in, I think I wanted the rest of my life being out

He is damn right. If LDS Church can ex any member at will then it serves them right to get slapped by hundreds of
resignations per month.
I don't think any church should ex people just because they commit adultery, write less than favorable stuff or else.
If it is God's Church let God decide, not them Aholes.
