I am happy to hear that they are now safe. What an awful thing to have to experience!

That's what happens when you visit a rat hole.
Serves them right!

Come on, that's not cool.
Ok, so the church is not true. That doesn't mean the leadership deserve to suffer home invasion and assault. Give me a freaking break.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Actually, I've heard through the ward grapevine that the assailants had intended to kill everyone in the home, and would have, had three tall, dark-skinned, muscle-bound young men not shown up in the nick of time.
ps: Sister Packard is personally known quite well to my in-laws - her daughter once dated my brother-in-law, and my mother-in-law went on a mission to Mozambique at the suggestion of Sis. Packard (my MIL returned maybe a year and a half ago or so from that mission), with whom she is friends. I wish her well and hope her arm heals up fine.

You didn't get it, did you?
You never go in a place like that knowingly like sheep, unprotected.
I live in United States, fourth largest city.
My .38 special is always close to me in my house.
I'm not saying it wouldn't happen to me.

Yes, It ain't.
I didn't want to come across badass, but I grew up in Middle East.
they almost wasted me over there. I say pure luck saved my ass, so to speak.
The places like Africa, Brazil, Middle East I'd hate to visit.
Let alone proselytize.
Desperate boneheads do that.

Thanks Yong,
That's one more place marked off that my TBM wife won't permit our boys go to now - Mexico has been on that list for a while now. She wants them stateside and not in any southern border missions (I want then in school and getting a job).
So far as Mexico goes, I think it's a matter of time when La Zeta figure out that former Mormon missionaries are sought after by DEA, Immigration etc. for their in-country familiarities.
I got a firearm pointed at me twice (among a few other weapons - tire irons, stones, cars) in the Oz mission 27 years ago. The one incident where we were held at gunpoint for about an hour made us spiritually crap our G's. I don't think I ever told my parents about any of them.
The stakes are getting higher - and for what? Short term, converts get a ray of hope (and pay in a little cash for the privilege). Later on, when they discover the church is mostly BS, Moroni's Trumpet gains an apostate who remains on the books to keep them well cooked.
Reminds me of MLM.
